Press Release No. 295/16 FIVE A-SIDE DAY NIGHT BAGHMARA FUTSAL CHALLENGE CUP 2016 GETS UNDERWAY A 3 day Five A-Side Day Night Baghmara Futsal Challenge Cup, 2016 gets underway on Tuesday evening at the District Sports Playground, Baghmara. The Tournament is being organised by the Baghmara District Sports Association in collaboration with the District Sports office, Baghmara, District Administration and Superintendent of Police, Baghmara. The ICFAI, University Tura, Meghalaya sponsored the Tournament. Altogether 23 teams are participating in the tournament. Deputy Commissioner, South Garo Hills District, Smti S. N. Marak while expressing happiness towards the participating teams for their zeal and enthusiasm said that the motive behind organising the tournament is to improve the skills of footballers as youths have lots of potential for such games. She also welcomed the teams from West Garo Hills District, North Garo Hills, and East Garo Hills District for taking interest in participating and joining the Futsal Tournament. “Game is not always about winning, it is about participation, we should enjoy the game and let the best team wins”, she added. She also informed the gathering that tournaments like Badminton Tournament, Basketball Tournament etc will also be organized in the coming months. In the opening day, matches were played amongst Baghmara Police vs Jaksongram Blue Hills, Dopagram vs Nikjagring, Shining Club vs D.C. Matgrik and Rangdokram Club vs Upper Rongdotchi. |
Press Release No. 297/16 GOVERNOR INAUGURATES THE THREE DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR AT SHILLONG Meghalaya Governor and Chief Rector NEHU, Shri V. Shanmuganathan today inaugurated the three day National Seminar on the Theme “Teaching of Indian Philosophy in North East India” held at Multi-use Convention Centre, NEHU, Shillong in the presence of Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Prof. X. P. Mao, HOD, Philosophy, NEHU, scholars from different universities of the country and students. The National Seminar was organized by the Department of Philosophy, NEHU and sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi and North Eastern Regional Centre of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (NERC-ICSSR) Shillong. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the people living in the northeastern states have their own philosophies and practice them in their day to day life by upholding unity, community life, social service and showing hospitality to one another. Stating that respecting women is a long held tradition of the region, the Governor said that women occupy a very special position in this region and therefore urged the rest of the country to emulate and take lessons from the practices of the northeastern people. The topics for the first day includes “Teaching of Indian Philosophy in North East India”, “Teaching and Research in Indian Philosophy with Special Reference to North-East”, “Rationality and Freedom as key themes in Philosophy”, “Why modern mind finds it difficult to understand classical Indian thinking” and “concept of self realization in this context”. |

It is also to be mentioned here that the missing person is a District football player and might have joined some football club.
