DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER OF AWARD WINNING KHASI FEATURE FILM RI FELICITATED

Shillong June 16, 2014: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma today felicitated the Director Mr. Pradip Kurbah and producer Mr. Ribiang Tlang and the team of the National Award (Rajat Kamal Award) winning Khasi Feature Film, ‘Ri’ – homeland of uncertainty at a function organized by the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Meghalaya at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong. The felicitation programme was followed by screening of the feature film.

The felicitation function was also attended by Mr. A.L. Hek, Information and Public Relations Minister, Smti R. Warji, Home Minister, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Urban Affairs Minister, Mr. P. B. O. Warjri, Additional Chief Secretary, Smti M.H.K. Marak, Commissioner and Secretary I&PR department, senior government officials, local artists among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sangma congratulates Mr. Pradip Kurbah and his team for winning the National Award for his film ‘Ri’ and he expressed hope that the achievement will go a long way in motivating the youth of the State to take film making as an option for a career.

The entertainment sector is an area which is going to open up huge opportunity in the years to come and at the same time will contribute substantially for the overall growth of the state and the region as a whole”, said Dr. Sangma, while stating that the State is yet to tap the talents that the youth of the state has in the entertainment sector and assured that the government will provide assistance and create an enabling environment for everyone to take advantage in the field of film making.

The Chief Minster earlier handed over a memento and also announced a cash award of Rs.10 lakhs as an acknowledgement for the achievement of Mr. Pradip Kurbah and his team.

Mr. A. L. Hek, I&PR Minister in his speech lauded Mr. Kurbah for his contribution in the field of film making and his ability to nurture some of the best recognized acting talents in the State and the National Award bagged by the film ‘Ri’ for best Khasi feature film at the 61st National Film Festival is a huge recognition of his talent as well the talent of the entire team of ‘Ri’.
