DISTRICT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL HELD

Meghalaya Deputy Speaker and Chairman District Planning and Development Council (DP&DC) Mr P. W. Muktieh, attended the meeting of the DP&DC held in the Circuit House, Nongpoh on June 15, 2005. The meeting was convened to scrutinize Plan Schemes of different departments for the current financial year, 2005-2006 in need of approval for submission to the government

The officers of different departments informed the Chairman about their proposal plan schemes for the current year, achievement in the last financial year, 2004-2005 and the ongoing schemes as well problems faces for implementation of schemes.

The Deputy Commissioner of the District, Mr B. Dhar and Smt. M. N. Nampui, District Planning Officer were also present.

BLOCK LEVEL SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENT FAIR HELD

Block Level Science and Environment Fair, organised by the Office of the District Planning Officer, East Garo Hills, Williamnagar was held at Songsat A.gitok Secondary School on June 16, 2005. The District Planning Officer Mr. B. Hajong graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hajong said that Science and Environment are interdependent as in these days Environments are being preserved by way of Scientific Technology. Therefore he urged the students to apply their scientific knowledge in preserving the environment for the benefit of the people.

The other highlights of the day include essay competition, drawing competition, quiz competition and extempore speech.
