CHIEF MINISTER DISCUSSES SETTING UP OF FACILITATION CENTRE AT MENDIPATHAR RAILWAY STATION

Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma visited Mendipathar Railway Station in North Garo Hills on 21st June 17 and had a meeting with the Divisional Commercial Manager, N.F. Railway, Rangiya Division. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary, I/c Transport, Government of Meghalaya, Dr Shreeranjan and Commissioner of Transport, I Ingty. Interacting with the officials of N.F. Railway the Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma said that the railway station should be equipped with a Facilitation Center. “The Facilitation Center will serve as an alternative to ILP whereby the authorities can verify their identity and put a check illegal immigration,” he said. He added that creating the facility in the railway station will enable the government to have a filtering mechanism and also ensure safety of the travelers. The Chief Minister also suggested that Facilitation Centre should have Help Desks and other comfort facilities like Café, eateries etc. Later the Chief Minister and the railway officials inspected the site for the proposed Facilitation Centre.

CM INAUGURATES BRIDGE OVER UMIAM RIVER, SCHOOL BUILDING AT NONGPATHAW

Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma today inaugurated a major bridge of 60 metre span under CRF Scheme at 7th Km over Umiam River at Mawlai Umthlong- Nongpathaw road in the presence of Minister, PWD (Roads), Shri. M M Danggo, Minister, Home, Transport etc and Local MLA, Shri. HDR Lyngdoh, officials and functionaries of the Public Works Department, Headman of Nongpathaw, Dr.K.D Ramsiej, representatives of Diengiei Area Dorbar, elders and youths of the area among others. On the day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the building and basketball Court of Nongpathaw Secondary School at a function held at the school premises at Nongpathaw. Dedicating the assets to the people of the area in particular and the state in general, Chief Minister Dr.Mukul Sangma stated that it is the endeavour of the Government to fulfill the aspirations of the people, while also emphasizing on the fact how leaders must connect with the needs of the people. Expressing his immense appreciation of the scenic beauty of the Mawdun- Nongpathaw area, the Chief Minister stated that the cluster of villages in the area has plenty of potential in the tourism sector, with them having the capacity to be considered ‘tourist villages’ in the near future where every household has ‘tourist products’, which will in turn bring remunerative returns to the people through tourism. Dr.Sangma also urged upon all gathered at the function to preserve and enhance the vegetative cover of the area, thus partaking in the preservation of the flora and fauna of the state. The Chief Minister on the occasion also stressed on the need to adopt and practice organic farming, in line with the Mission Organic of the Government, considering the fertility of the area, while also assuring that the Government through concerned departments would help impart necessary training on making organic manure, which people can make in their own backyards thereby ensuring increased productivity. He further added that farmers also need to consider growing high value fruits like Kiwi, strawberry and others. Dr. Sangma also took the occasion to call upon all gathered to get themselves enrolled in Phase –III of the MHIS, whose enrollment process is being done across the state, further affirming to all concerned that the agenda of the Government is to adopt a holistic approach towards utilizing the insurance scheme in the interest of the people across the state.
