CM ATTENDS 2ND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF MGSPHVA

Meghalaya Chief Minister Shri. Conrad K. Sangma today attended the 2nd Anniversary celebration of the Meghalaya and Greater Shillong Progressive Hawkers and Street Vendors’ Association. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that the government is committed to the welfare of each and every citizen of the State. Acknowledging the contribution of the hawkers and street vendors to the basic economy of the state the chief minister said that the government is aware of the problems and issues being faced by them. “We are committed to the welfare of the hawkers so that they can also move forward in life”, the chief minister said. The Chief Minister stressed on the need for a balanced approach to tackle the challenges and difficulties in order to arrive at a solution acceptable to all.“The government is with you and we want to work with you but it is not easy for us to do everything the way we want to do, we have to work within a certain frame work and in a systematic manner”, the Chief Minister told the gathering. The Chief Minister also told the gathering that the Government is contemplating on the idea of setting up vending points for hawkers in areas which will be mutually beneficial to the vendors as well as the public. The Chief Minister urged upon all stakeholders to work together with sincerity and commitment towards finding an amicable and lasting solution.

99TH SOS DAY CELEBRATED

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri. Conrad K. Sangma today attended the 99th SOS Day celebrations at SOS Children’s Village in Umiam. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that there should not be any compromise on hard work and urged the children to carry a positive attitude to life. “No matter the difficulties and challenges you face in life always keep smiling”, the Chief Minister told the gathering. The Chief Minister also exhorted the organisation and its members to work with selfless dedication towards the all round development and well being of the children and the youth. The Chief Minister also suggested the organisation to popularise the beautiful handicrafts made by the residents of the village by opening an outlet in the area. “Without infringing upon the purpose and objective of the organisation some external activities can be initiated, as this area is an important tourist location”, The Chief Minister added. Reiterating the government’s commitment to the welfare of each and every citizen of the State the Chief Minister urged all stakeholders to work towards achieving greater prosperity and inclusive growth. The Chief Minister also asked the children to take initiatives to preserve and protect the environment.
