FREE RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION TO PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Jt. Director of Higher and Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that Government of India through the scheme of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is providing free residential Education to Primary School students at the level of Class VI especially of rural areas. Students of Class V are encouraged to appear for selection test usually held in February in large numbers.

More details can be obtained from the office of the Jt. Director of Higher and Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong or the Inspector of Schools in respective districts.

STATE LEVEL TRAINING PROGRAMME OF N.S.S. 63RD ROUND

The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Meghalaya is organizing a 3 (three) day State Level Training Programme of NSS 63rd Round in the Office of the District Statistical Officer, Upper Lachumiere, East Khasi Hills, Shillong from 26th to 28th June, 2006.

The Sixty-third round of NSS is earmarked for collection of data on economic and operational characteristics of enterprise in service sector (excluding trade) and also on household consumer expenditure. The field operations of the Survey will commence on 1st July, 2006 and will continue up to 30th June, 2007 for a complete one year round.

PADMA AWARDS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON THE EVE OF REPUBLIC DAY, 2007

The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that Government of India will announce the Padma Awards on the eve of Republic Day, 2007. The Padma Award consist of Padma Vibhusan, Padma Bhusan and Padma Shri for Art, Social work, Public Affairs, Science and Engineering, Trade and Industry, Medicine, Literature and Education, Civil Service, Sports and others.

Interested individual may collect the Proforma for the said Award from the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.

The duly filled in Proforma along with two copies citation in narrative form may be submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong on or before August 22, 2006.
