Press Release No. 281/10 REGISTRATION OF PET DOGS Shillong, June 29, 2010: The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has directed all owners of pet dogs residing within the Shillong Municipal Area to register their pets within the Municipality and obtain tickets on payment of fees. All pet owners are to ensure that their dogs are not let loose in place/roads and any dog found without tags will be treated as stray dogs and immediate action to catch such dogs will be taken. This is to prevent the spread of diseases. |

Press Release No. 283/10 DCC MEETING HELD Shillong, June 29, 2010: The meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) was held at the Tura Circuit House today, June 29, 2010. This is the first meeting of the District Coordination Committee for the present financial year. Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills convened the meeting. The meeting was held in order to coordinate different departments within the district in their various developmental projects, thereby eliminating obstacles and creating a conducive environment for efficient implementation of developmental projects. The meeting also stressed on assessing, reviewing and chalking out follow up actions pertaining to developmental projects taken up by different departments within the district. The meeting also discussed upon pertinent interdepartmental issues relating to implementation of developmental projects. Mr. Sanjay Goyal addressing the meeting said that it was after a long gap that the meeting was being held and suggests to conduct the meeting on a quarterly basis. He also stressed on the allocation and utilization of fund allotted to different departments of the districts. Among others who attended the meeting were Mr. Ambrose Ch. Marak, ADC & Project Director, DRDA, West Garo Hills, Mrs. F. C. A. Sangma, ADC, West Garo Hills and Department heads of the District. |
Press Release No. 285/10 LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE OF HIMA JIRANG AND INAUGURATION OF JESUS WELL PROJECT Shillong, June 29, 2010: The Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya Dr. D. D. Lapang laid a foundation stone of the Hima Jirang’s Office on the 26th June, 2010 at Jirang village in the presence of Shri. R. H. Wahlang Syiem of Hima Jirang, Shri. Artis Ranee, MDC of Jirang, Shri. W. L. Mynsong, Ex MDC of Jirang, Doloi and Myntri of Hima Jirang, Headmen and the local residents of Jirang Village. The Hima Jirang submitted a memorandum to Dr. Lapang urging him to take up the matter with the State Government. Some of the problems mentioned in the memorandum included shortage of drinking water, bad condition of roads, immediate solution of the border dispute, to set up a police station at Jirang area, school building for Jirang Secondary School and many more. Dr. Lapang assured the people that the matter be taken up with the concern departments for necessary action. On the same day Dr. D. D. Lapang proceeded to Patharkhmah community Hall and attended the public meeting organized by the Western Ri-Bhoi Development Council and at the same time he inaugurated the Jesus Well project of Rs. 40,000/- constructed by the Believers Church of India at Patharkhmah and also handed over mosquito nets to 30 villagers of Western Ri-Bhoi dorbar contributed by the Believers Church of India. Speaking on the occasion Dr. D. D. Lapang said that the social and community service performed by the Believers Church of India is immensely beneficial and constructive. He appreciated and congratulated the work done by Rev Fr. Thomas and the Believers Church as a whole for their contribution. He lauded the efforts and hard work of the people which resulted in the development and growth of the Ri-Bhoi District . and highlighted on Ri-Bhoi being the gateway to other districts of the State and call upon the people to cooperate. He also stated that the Government has implemented many schemes and projects for the benefit of the people through different departments, therefore, it is the duty of the village headman to enquire about the schemes from the officials and it need for the people to work hard to alleviate power. |
