20TH FOUNDATION DAY OF SAN-KER TO BE CELEBRATED

Shillong, June 03, 2010: The 20th Foundation Day of SAN-KER will be celebrated on June 9, 2010 wherein the Governor of Meghalaya, Mrs. R S Mooshahary will be the Chief Guest and Padma Shree Q Rynjah will be the Guest of Honour. The celebration will include a thanksgiving function and the release of the annual Souvenir on the theme “Child Trafficking” to highlight the prevalence and ill effects it has on the citizens of tomorrow.

As part of the Celebrations, SAN-KER will organise an Awareness Programme on the “Rights of the Mentally Ill” on June 5, 2010. This programme will be chaired by Padma Shree Patricia Mukhim and the Resource Person will be Mrs. Nakinlin Shylla, Advocate. On June 7, 2010, a painting competition for the Differently Abled Children will be organised for the students of Special Schools of Shillong.

DISTRIBUTION OF RICE

Shillong, June 03, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed the public consumers of the District that APL, BPL and AAY quota of Rice for the month of April, 2010 is being distributed to the consumers at their respective Fair Price Shops.

For APL quota, rice will be distributed at the scale of 13 kgs per card at the rate Rs. 8.80 to Rs. 9.00 maximum per kg, BPL quota at the scale of 35 kgs per card at the rate of Rs. 6.15 per kg and AAY quota at the scale of 35 kgs per card and at the rate of Rs. 3.00 per kg.

All Fair Price Shop dealers of the District are requested to lift the alloted quota of rice immediately and to arrange the distribution to the beneficiaries.

Any non-supply or overcharging of rate and supply of inferior quality of rice by the Fair Price Shop dealers should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong immediately.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR FREE STUDENTSHIP AND BOOK GRANT SCHOLARSHIP

Shillong, June 03, 2010: Applications are invited for award of Free-Studentship Scholarship from students belonging to SC/ST of the State of Meghalaya pursuing Higher Post Matric studies in any recognized institution during the current year 2010-2011.

Application in prescribed forms should be submitted through the Head of Institution where he or she is pursuing studies. The last date for receiving applications in the office of the Director of Higher & Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong for Renewal and Fresh is not later than 31st August, 2010

Prescribed application forms can be obtained from the colleges in which the student is studying. Students reading in the institution outside the State may collect the forms from the office of the Director of Higher & Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong on request.

Further, Book Grant Scholarship will be awarded to tribal students of the State of Meghalaya pursuing higher studies in various courses in any recognized institutions during the current year 2010-2011. The Scholarship is eligible only for students securing 60percent and above. Engineering and Medical students are not entitled for Book Grant.

Application in prescribed form should be submitted positively by 31st August, 2010. The application forms should be submitted through the Head of Institution where they are studying and to forward the same to the office of the Director of Higher & Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong within the prescribed date. Those students who are studying outside the State of Meghalaya may collect the form from the office of the Director of Higher & Technical Education, Meghalaya, Shillong on request.
