MEGHALAYA DAY AWARDS

Shillong, June 12, 2015: To commemorate Meghalaya Day on 21st January, 2016, the Government of Meghalaya will confer the Meghalaya Day Awards, i.e., U Tirot Sing Award for Arts & Literature, U Pa Togan N Sangma Award for Social Services and U Kiang Nangbah Award for Sports. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1, 00,000/- each.

Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills District who desire their names to be recommended to the Government for the Award are required to send their nominations to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District with the citation latest by 15th September, 2015.

NOTICE

Shillong, June 12, 2015: The Joint Secretary, Higher Education, Education (Gr-4) Department, Government of Rajasthan, in a letter to the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, has informed that the ADG, Police, ATS & SOG, Rajasthan, Jaipur has seized a software from the service provider of Jodhpur National University, Jodhpur (a private university) which contains name of fake degrees/mark sheets holders issued in the name of Jodhpur National University, Jodhpur. The list of such fake degrees/mark sheets holders is available on the website of the College Education Department of Rajasthan at www.dce.rajasthan.gov.in.

Therefore, the Government of Rajasthan has requested the Government of Meghalaya to ensure that no such candidate is selected in any service or get employment/promotion on the basis of such fake degrees/mark sheets.

SELF CERTIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS

Shillong, June 12, 2015: The Government of Meghalaya has decided to adopt the provision of self-certification of documents like mark sheet, birth certificate etc., for the purpose of admission in schools and colleges within the State and for candidates applying for State sponsored seats in Engineering/Medical/Veterinary and Agriculture Colleges. This was informed by the Under Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Personnel & Administrative Reforms Cell.

These documents may henceforth be attested by the applicants instead of attestation by the Gazetted Officer of by filing of affidavits. The original documents will however be required to be produced by the applicants for verification at the final stage.

Any candidate falsely certifying documents are liable to be criminally prosecuted in a court of law.

MEGHALAYA GOVERNOR INDUCTED AS PATRON OF MEGHALAYA BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES

Shillong, June 12, 2015: Induction of His Excellency the Governor of Meghalaya, Shri V. Shanmuganathan as Patron of the Meghalaya Bharat Scout and Guides was held on the 10th June, 2015 at Raj Bhavan, Shillong by the State Secretary of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides in which the Governor was made a Scout through his solemn promise to do his duty to God and the country, to help other people and to obey the Scout Law.

The scarf was given by Shri G. G. Pariat, President, Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides Fellowship while the Special Scout/Guide neck tie was presented by Dr. (Mrs) M. P. R. Lyngdoh, State Commissioner, Guide and the membership badge was pinned on the left side by Shri W. Lyngdoh, State Commissioner, Scouts. He was also given a warm welcome to the World Wide Brotherhood of the Boy-Scout Movement. The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides urged upon the Patron to extend his support towards building the character of the Youth in the State.

The Governor expressed joy and happiness to be associated with the Movement and assure all possible support to the Movement.
