Press Release No. 465/20 SWGH DC ORDERS CLOSURE OF SHOPS ALONG GARODOBA-ICHAGURI ROAD The Deputy Commissioner, South West Garo Hills, Ch. Ramakrishna in promulgation of Section 144 CrPC, has ordered closure of all shops abutting the road from Garodoba to Ichaguri along the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state border in South West Garo Hills with immediate effect and until further orders. The order for closure of the shops was issued as it had come to the notice of the District Administration that most of the regular shops and temporary shops especially along the inter-state border are not maintaining social distancing in their shops and violating the safety protocol for COVID-19 after permission was given to open specific types of shops based on the SOPs within South West Garo Hills district between 7.00 am to 4.00 pm on all days except Sundays. The prohibitory order was also necessitated in view of reports of COVID-19 positive cases in South Salmara district of Assam which shares a long border with South West Garo Hills district and a number of villages in the district are contiguous to the villages in South Salmara district. |
Press Release No. 466/20 SECTION 144CRPC IMPOSED The District Magistrate, West Khasi Hills District Shri.T.Lyngwa has notified that section 144CrPC has been imposed prohibiting illegal extraction of coal, unauthorized dumping of coal on the road side for storage of coal pending transportation and uncovered or exposure of the coal by coal owners without cover of dumps by water-proof tarpaulin/permanent sheds. This order shall come into force with immediate effect. |
Press Release No. 467/20 DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION ARRANGES TOURIST TAXIS The East Garo Hills district administration has arranged tourist taxis to pick up the stranded people returning from outside the state to the district through Berubari Check Point in North Garo Hills. The notification issued in this regard by the East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner stated that the tourist taxis arranged by the Incidence Response Team of the Transport Cell to pick up the passengers will charge Rs. 300/- per head from Berubari Check Point in North Garo Hills to Williamnagar in East Garo Hills. The notification further stated that the passengers may also contact the District Transport Officer (DTO), CG Momin and the Enforcement Inspector, TN Sangma, on their mobile numbers 7005209232 and 8837079721 respectively for advance booking. |
Press Release No. 468/20 CEO REMINDS THE NEED TO PAY PROPERTY TAXES The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB) has informed that the Govt. departments and the owners of private buildings in Williamnagar despite a notification issued to them earlier this year, failed to pay the property or holding tax to the board which was mandated for the maintenance and upkeep of the local civic amenities, solid waste management and sewage system, etc. as required to be levied under section 68 of the Meghalaya Municipal Act, 1973. The notification issued in this regard stated that a lump-sum rate has been fixed by the board and communicated earlier for payment relating to the types of buildings and rates fixed per year which has to be paid from the year 2019 by all Govt. departments and the owners of private buildings failing which a penalty of 2 percent interest per month on amount due will be imposed. |
Press Release No. 469/20 ORDER Due to the detection of positive COVlD-19 cases in Ftr HQr BSF Campus, Umpling with recent travel history from other parts of the country and because vulnerable and affected areas require aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of general public against any possible spread of COVID-19, the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District in an order issued on 9th July, 2020 has declared the entire Ftr HQr BSF Campus, Umpling as a containment area so as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site. The order states that no person and public are allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the containment area also not allowed to not move out besides all inhabitants within the containment area must strictly remain inside their home. Gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms including social, political, religious, economic activities are not allowed. All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature are to close immediately, however, supply of essential and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the District Administration. All Government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment area to close forthwith, till further orders. According to the order, the Block Development Officer of Mawpat, Incident Commander of Zone -V will be the Supervising Officer of the Ftr HQr BSF Campus, Umpling which is declared as a Containment area. The order also states that any violation of the order will entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and I.P.C |
Press Release No. 470/20 ORDER In order to prevent the possibility of an outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 and as a precautionary measures to safeguard the citizens of the State, the Commissioner of Excise, Meghalaya in an order issued on 7th July, 2020 has declared the closure of all IMFL “ON” license (Bar) premises throughout the state with effect from 8th July, 2020 to 15th July, 2020 and until further orders. |
