WORLD POPULATION FORTNIGHT 2018 OBSERVED

The World Population Fortnight 2018 on the theme “Bright future begins with welfare of a family” organised by the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat was held at the CHC campus Khliehriat. Shri F. M. Dopth, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, graced the function as Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dopth said that the main aim of the programme is to educate the community about family planning. He also said that every family must have the responsibility to understand the importance of healthcare, food, education and other requirements. He felt that the subject of sex education should be imparted to the community so that the benefits of family planning is realised.

AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON SOLID AND LIQUID WASTE MANAGEMENT

A one day awareness programme on Solid and Liquid Waste Management organised by the District Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) was held at Khliehriat West Community Hall, Khliehriat today. Shri F. M. Dopth, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat attended the programme as Chief Guest. Shri Dopth informed the gathering that cleanliness is an important issue of each citizen and urged one and all to have a responsibility of keeping their surroundings clean. On the day, dustbins were also handed over to the Dorbar Chnong of Khliehriat West by the POWER GRID, Khliehriat.
