MOTORABLE ROAD INAUGURATED

The Meghalaya Minister for Urban Affairs, etc., and local MLA, Mr. Paul Lyngdoh, inaugurated the motorable road at Jaiaw Mihngi, Shillong on Saturday, July 14, 2007. The road was constructed under the MLA Scheme 2006-2007 at a total cost of Rs. 7.00 lakhs. Also present at the inaugural function were Parliamentary Secretary and MLA of Nongspung who is also the Chairman of Jaiaw Mihngi Block, Mr. J. A. Lyngdoh, Mr. D. Marbaniang and Mr. R. S. Lyngdoh, Rangbah Shnongs of Jaiaw Laitdom and residents of the locality.

Mr. Paul Lyngdoh, in his speech said that the motorable road being constructed in the locality will ease the residents to a great extent. Therefore, he called upon the people to maintain this asset given to them for their own benefit. He also expressed gratitude to the PWD Department, who despite its financial crunch, the proposal to construct a Rs. 26 lakhs motorable road from Pearly Dew School has been sanctioned and tender will be invited soon.

Mr. Lyngdoh also inform the meeting that in order to bring about transparency and accountability, he will publish a financial report stating the schemes and projects executed in his constituency by different Government Departments and also the projects sanctioned from the MLA Scheme.

Pertaining to immediate priority schemes like drainage system, Mr. Lyngdoh assured the people that the work will commence this year and with regard to streetlight installation in the locality, Mr. Lyngdoh informed that the scheme has been initiated and once the process with the MeSEB is complete, the work will start soon.

Mr. Lyngdoh, therefore, called upon the people to extend their hands of cooperation and assured them that he will work for the all round development of the constituency.

BUYERS AND SELLERS MEET TO BE HELD

The Directorate of Horticulture, Meghalaya, Shillong, will organize the Buyers and Sellers Meet on different horticultural committees on July 31, 2007 at 11.00 A.M. in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Agriculture, Cleve Colony, Shillong.

Interested buyers/sellers who would like to participate are to get themselves registered in the office of the Directorate of Horticulture, Cleve Colony, Shillong latest by July 26, 2007.

SHIFTING OF OFFICE

The Office of the Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), National Highway Circle, Shillong has been shifted to the newly constructed Extension of the Office building of Superintending Engineer, PWD (Roads), Eastern Circle, Shillong with effect from May 19, 2007. This office is occupying the 1st Floor, 2nd Floor and 3rd Floor on the Western side.
