DISTRICT LEVEL EXHIBITION HELD IN JOWAI

Shillong, July 16: With a view to promote and develop the Study of Science and Technology that can attract talented youth to study science at an early stage, the Office of the Inspector of School in Jaintia Hills District organised a District level Exhibition at Tpep-pale Hall, Jowai on Thursday.

Addressing the inaugural function, the Inspector of Schools, Ms. C. Slong informed that as a measure to attract talented youth to study science, a scheme has been introduced which can provide incentives in the form of award. The award, known as Inspired Award’ will include cash of Rs. 5000/- which is given to the young students of the age between 10 to 15 years old.

This year there were 28 schools altogether that took part in the exhibition displaying their various model projects.

Among various schools participated, the Jaintia Secondary School, Newhill Jowai was adjudged first position while Little Flower Secondary School, Ummulong and QC Spring Side Secondary school, Jowai were adjudged second and third position respectively.

All the three school were selected to represent Jaintia Hills Districts at the State Level Exhibition to be held shortly.

HOLIDAY DECLARED IN JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT

Shillong, July 16: The Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills Districts has informed that on account of the annual Behdeingkhlam Festival of the Sein Raij Tuber to be held at Tuberkmai shnong a local holiday on July 21 has been declared.

All State Government Offices and Educational Institutions under the Government of Meghalaya located in Jaintia Hills District shall remain closed on July 21.

NOTICE

Shillong, July 16: The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills has informed that the Court of Smti. R R Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills Shillong has found Mr. Tola Bora, accused of Mawsynram PS Case No. 2(4)2008, guilty for an offence U/S 304 IPC and accordingly awarded him two and a half years imprisonment with fine.
