IIM SHILLONG WELCOMES NEW BATCH OF PGP 2025-27 AND DOCTORAL PROGRAM, RESIDENTIAL BATCH OF 2025

IIM Shillong inaugurated the 13th batch of its Doctoral Program, residential batch of 2025, and the 18th batch of its Post Graduate Program in Management, PGP 2025–27, during a ceremonial commencement held on campus.

Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathy, Director I/C, IIM Shillong, welcomed the incoming participants with a message grounded in growth and reflection. "This journey is not only about academics it is about widening your perspective and developing the ability to lead with responsibility," she said.

Highlighting the institute’s focus on industry-relevant and future-focused education, she encouraged students to make the most of their time at IIM Shillong by remaining curious, committed, and open to transformation.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Shri Parmod Kamlani, Partner at EY Strategy and Transaction and GDS Transaction and Corporate Finance Leader. In his inaugural address, Shri Kamlani reflected on the influence of faith in his personal journey and the power of aligning one’s words with actions. He emphasized the fundamental role of trust-building in professional and personal spheres, urging students to cultivate authenticity and consistency as future leaders.

The cohort for Doctoral Program, residential batch of 2025, comprises five scholars, representing five different states of India. The group holds 100 percent non-engineering backgrounds with a gender distribution of 60 percent male and 40 percent female, and an average age of 25.6 years. The admissions process for the doctoral program included two rounds of rigorous personal interviews held across major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kolkata.

The flagship Post Graduate Program, PGP 2025–27, saw the registration of 405 participants selected from over 2.3 lakh applicants who expressed interest in IIM Shillong via CAT 2024. The batch comprises 58 percent male and 42 percent female students, with a nearly even split between engineering, 46 percent, and non-engineering, 54 percent, backgrounds. The average age of the cohort is 25.2 years, with 72 percent of the students bringing prior work experience, mostly in the one to three years bracket. This vibrant and diverse batch represents 22 states and 4 Union Territories from across the country.

Prof. Bidyut Jyoti Gogoi, Chairperson, Admissions, presented an overview of both the PGP and Doctoral Program, residential. While Prof. Mousumi Bhattacharya, Chairperson, Doctoral Programs, and Prof. Subhadip Mukherjee, Chairperson, PGP, introduced the Programs respectively. Prof. Rohit Joshi, Dean, Academics, administered the formal Pledge of Commitment to the students of both batches, marking the beginning of their academic journey at IIM Shillong. With the commencement of this new academic year, IIM Shillong reaffirms its commitment to fostering responsible and ethical leadership, grounded in Indian values and geared towards creating sustainable global impact.
