WITHDRAWAL OF 25 PAISE COINS AND BELOW

Shillong, July 18, 2011: The Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Finance Economic Affairs Department has informed that the Government of India has ceased the circulation of the coins of the denomination of 25 paise and below with effect from June 30, 2011. From this date, these coins shall cease to be a legal tender for payment as well as on account. Necessary action has also been taken for revising the prices of various commodities and taxes levies etc and bring about such consequential changes as may be necessary consequent on withdrawal of the coins.
