Press Release No. 319/10 AIR FORCE RECRUITMENT RALLY Shillong, July 19, 2010: The Indian Air Force invites application from unmarried male Indian citizens from the North Eastern States for recruitment under Group ‘Y’ (except auto technician, ground training instructor and Indian Air Force (Police) trades and Group ‘X’ (technical trades). The Recruitment test will be held at Air Force School, Air Force Station Jorhat (Assam) from July 31, 2010 to August 5, 2010. Candidates who are born between July 1, 1989 and September 30, 1993 and have passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent examination with pass marks in Science, Arts or Commerce subjects with a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate or 3 years Diploma in any stream of Engineering from a government recognised Polytechnic/Institute may apply for the post under Group ‘Y’. In the case of Group ‘X’, candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent examination with pass marks in mathematics and physics with a minimum of 50 percent marks in overall aggregate. Press Release No. 320/10 GOVERNOR MET REPRESENTATIVES FROM MAWLYNNONG AND BSF OFFICIALS Shillong, July 19, 2010: His Excellency, Shri. R. S. Mooshahary, Governor of Meghalaya today the 19th July 2010 met the Headman, students of CNI Upper Primary School and representatives of Mawlynnong village which has earned the unique distinction of being declared the `cleanest village' in entire Asia at Raj Bhavan. Other dignitaries include Shri. Donkupar Massar, MLA, Smti. Grace Mary Kharpuri, local MDC, BSF officials and many more. Speaking to the students, Shri R. S. Mooshahary gave them words of encouragement which was then followed with a special song by the students. The governor also interacted with the representatives of Mawlynnong village, Smti. Press Release No. 321/10 INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OLD AGE PENSION SCHEME DISBURSED Shillong, July 19, 2010: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed that the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) at the rate of Rs. 250/- (Rupees two hundred fifty only) per month for the period of three months i.e from 1st February to 30th April 2010 will be disbursed. Press Release No. 322/10 JOB TRAINING COURSE FOR LADY SUPERVISORS UNDER ICDS PROJECT CONCLUDED Shillong, July 19, 2010: A month-long Job Training Course for Lady Supervisors under ICDS Project, organized by Middle Level Training Centre (MLTC), Directorate of Social Welfare, Meghalaya, Shillong, concluded today the 19th July, 2010 at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The valedictory function was graced by the Meghalaya Minister of Social Welfare, Mr. J A Lyngdoh as the Chief Guest and the Commissioner & Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Mr. A Som as the Guest of Honour. Others present at the function included the Director of Social Welfare, Mr. C C M Mihsil, Additional Director of Social Welfare, Ms. L N Jyrwa, Officers of the Department, NGOs and guests from various professional field and line Departments. The objectives of the training are to review the status of ICDS scheme and to get a feedback from the supervisors on its implementation at the field level, to acquaint the supervisors with the suitable mechanisms and development for effective supervision and convergence approach, to improve the knowledge and skills of supervisors for effective management of the programme, to provide the field functionaries with update information and skills, to facilitate and provide supportive guidance to AWWs for effective co-ordination and supervision at the community level. Altogether 25 Lady Supervisors from different ICDS Projects of the State attended the training which started from June 21, 2010. Addressing the meeting, Mr. J A Lyngdoh said that the job of Lady Supervisors is very tough which demand hard work and dedication adding that the training that they received will further enhance them with skills and techniques in which to go about with their duties. Seeing the need to reach the unreached, Mr. Lyngdoh informed the meeting that the Government of India has universalize the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme to provide a functional anganwadi in every settlement and ensure full coverage for all children. Therefore, he encouraged the trainees to do their job with confidence and to work in coordination with line departments to ensure that no children are left uncovered. He urged the trainees to take back whatever they have learn from the training and to translate it into action for which he hoped will be beneficial to the children. Mr A Som, in his speech, congratulated the Department for providing the necessary training to the Lady Supervisors, whose duties and activities are being carried out at the grassroot level. Stating that their role is to help children and the community in general, Mr. Som said that Lady Supervisors should have the capability to develop and mould a child, physically, mentally and spiritually so that they can face the world positively. Stating that each supervisor has around 20 Anganwadi centres under them, Mr. Som called upon the trainees to make a weekly calendar operative for 6 days a week, that is, to attend 4 Anganwadi centres in a day thereby covering all Centres under them in a week’s time. He hoped that the training provided to them by the experts, will equipped them to handle all situations and problems they may face in their line of duty and to work with confidence for the benefit of the children, mothers and the community at large. Later, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour handed over certificates to all the 25 Lady Supervisors who have completed their training. Among others who spoke were Mr. C C M Mihsil, Director of Social Welfare who delivered the welcome address, Ms. L N Jyrwa, Additional Director of Social Welfare who gave a report on the training and Mr. I Talang, District Project Officer, Shillong who offered the vote of thanks. |
