Press Release No. 809/17 MEASURES TO CURB ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills has informed that the Ministry of Electronic & Information Technology (Cyber Laws & E-Security Group) through a notification has directed all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to adopt and implement International Watch Foundation (IWF) Resources on or before 31st July, 2017 to prevent the distribution and transmission of online Child Sexual Abuse Materials into India and also to continue to observe the existing due diligence requirements prescribed by Government under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and Rules and Regulations including the obligation to expeditiously remove or disable access to any unlawful content. According to the Deputy Commissioner matters pertaining to website/ page on Child Sexual Abuse Materials reported/found to be available in any online platform may be brought to the notice of the Special Superintendent of Police (CID), Meghalaya, email address ccw-meg@gov.in along with adequate material such as snapshot, print screen, URLs, etc., so that further necessary action can be taken for removal /disabling of the content with the Internet Service Providers (ISPs). |

Press Release No. 812/17 CHIEF MINISTER INAUGURATES MAWLAI BLOCK Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma today inaugurated Mawlai, C & RD Block at Mawlai in the presence of MLA, Mawlai, Embhalang Syiemlieh and MDC, Mawlai, P T Sawkmie. In his address to the gathering, Chief Guest, Dr Mukul M Sangma expressing happiness in inaugurating the C & RD Block said that the achievement is another milestone in pursuit of creating access of the people in the government’s developmental programmes. “This unit of government is important for initiating various important programmes of the state and the union government,” he said. Dr Sangma said that there was a need to look at the existing blocks that needed to be bifurcated to remove imbalances in development and growth. He also informed that the creation of Mawlai C & RD Block is the outcome of collective endeavor of all. “The creation of the block is a humble beginning and I hope that people will be able to connect with the initiatives of the government in a better way,” he said. The Chief Minister also said that the wonderful backdrop in which the permanent office will be situated should be taken advantage of. He said that out of the three acres of land for the office site one acre should be dedicated to create a facility that is befitting to the value of the place. He added that the C & RD Block should also facilitate training and sensitizing of the youth to various development activities. He also informed that the state has improved in most sectors in the last few years and the government has been able to respond to the dreams and aspirations of the people. He urged the people not to be pessimists and not to engage in activities that will infuse a sense of insecurity amongst the people. “Though it is still a challenge to respond to the higher expectations of the people especially the youth the government is focused on creating livelihood opportunities and access to quality Education on a sustainable basis,” said Dr Sangma. The Chief Minister also said that it is the collective responsibility of all to see that people are not alienated from their rights and land. “We have laws to protect our rights and we need to be honest and sincere to the values and rights we have inherited,” he said. The Chief Minister also handed over the first work order of Rs 25 lakhs to Rangbah Shnong Mawtawar and also unveiled the commemorative stone for the permanent office building and also inaugurated the Temporary Mawlai C & RD Block Office. Mawlai C & RD Block is bifurcated from Mylliem Block and the newly inaugurated block has 24 villages under it with its Headquarters at Mawtawar.
