Press Release No. 303/22 WORLD HEPATITIS DAY OBSERVED IN EAST JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT World Hepatitis Day on the theme Bringing Care Closer to You Hepatitis Cant Wait was observed today at OST Centre, Khliehriat Civil Hospital, East Jaintia Hills District. The Programme was organized by the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat wherein Dr. Dominic Shylla, District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Dr. Dominic Shylla, District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat said that hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver and it is very contagious. He also said that out of the 5 types of Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, Hepatitis B and C are more severe however, they are preventable by a vaccine hepatitis B vaccine and can be treated through medication, and he informed that testing for the disease can be done in every health Institution in Hospitals, CHCs and PHCs. The District Medical and Health Officer further stated that hepatitis is transmitted when a person comes in contact with blood and body fluid from an infected person or ingestion of contaminated food and water. Hepatitis is a disease that affects the liver function and to prevent hepatitis infection, we should take proper care of our health by getting vaccinated against hepatitis, testing, practicing good hand hygiene, and consuming a clean and healthy diet, he added. Dr. J. Nongtdu, Medical Officer, OST Centre, Khliehriat Civil Hospital in his speech said that viral hepatitis is caused by a virus that causes inflammation and infection to the liver. He also stated that injecting drug users are the high risk groups who are vulnerable to getting infected, as hepatitis also spreads through sharing of needles used by an infected person. Speaking on the theme Bringing Care Closer to You Hepatitis Cant Wait, he said hepatitis testing, care, and treatment are now closer to the people and he informed that diagnostics tests and treatments are also available at Khliehriat Civil Hospital. |
Press Release No. 304/22 NEW SCHEME FOCUS PLUS LAUNCHED TO BENEFIT ALL HOUSEHOLDS OF MEGHALAYA Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri. Conrad K. Sangma launched FOCUS+ as an expansion to his flagship initiative FOCUS today to benefit all households across Meghalaya. In its new format, FOCUS+ will provide an opportunity to families to take up additional activities and contribute towards agriculture value chain development. Under this scheme, a financial aid of Rs 5,000 per household will be provided directly to the beneficiary bank account. The scheme launched at an event in Resubelpara, North Garo Hills, is likely to provide aid to large sections of Meghalaya rural population and will look to transform lives of the people of the State. Meghalaya, a state that is progressing fast on various parameters including getting a top rating in NITI Aayog’s Innovation Index, ranked among the best in Startup ecosystem, global awards, and recognition, looks to be on course to realizing its vision of being among the top 10 states in 10 years. Speaking at the event, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri. Conrad K Sangma said, Over the past four and half years Meghalaya is making constant progress on various fronts, one of our key priority areas is our farmers. Our farmers support initiative FOCUS has provided much needed impetus for upscaling of farming activities, results of which are for everyone to see. Initiatives like mission mode projects in Lakadong, Piggery, Milk, Spice, Ginger, Aroma and others are providing necessary means to build a support system for our farmers with interventions from farm to market. FOCUS is very close to my heart, because it helped a large section of our farming community and FOCUS+ will provide much needed aid to ensure every family in rural Meghalaya is empowered to realize their true potential. The scheme will provide Rs.5,000 cash benefits to households across the State. This is part of our vision to bring all our farmers under collectivization theme and help them through various interventions, in turn doubling their income, added Shri. Conrad K Sangma. FOCUS originally launched on March 2021, have benefitted 2.45 lakh farmers till date. It was launched to boost agri economic activities by collectivization of Producer Groups to farm and non farm produce. Under FOCUS+, households would be provided with a FOCUS+ card as an Identification and cash transfer of Rs.5,000 as family benefit. Individuals would need to get registered under a producer group to avail the benefit. This is an additional benefit over Rs.5,000 to producer group account from FOCUS scheme. |
Press Release No. 305/22 BIJLI MAHOTSAV ORGANISED IN LAITRYNGEW, SOHRA CIVIL SUB DIVISION The Power Ministry, keeping in line with its countrywide celebrations of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya, organized a Bijli Mahotsav at Laitryngew, Sohra Civil Sub Division East Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya today. Sohra MLA, Shri Gavin Miguel Mylliem, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, lauded the efforts of the field level Officers who made it possible for electricity to reach every household. Addl. Deputy Commissioner, In Charge Sohra Civil Sub-Division, Shri L. Kynjing expressed his gratitude to the Local Headman, NERLDC, Power System Operation Corporation Limited and MePDCL Officials for co organizing the event. Sr. GM, NERLDC, Shri V. F Desouza highlighted the achievements of the country in the power sector in the past few years. Umdor, Block Development Officer, Shylla was also present among the dignitaries who attended the Mahotsav The Bijli Mahotsav is a celebration of India 75th year of independence under the banner Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. A slew of programmes have been held across the country under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya Power at 2047. Bijli Mahotsav is a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the State and the Central Governments to highlight the key achievements of the power sector.
