Press Release No. 775/17 INTERACTIVE PROGRAMME ON CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN AND DRUG ABUSE CONDUCTED The office of the Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh organized a one day Interactive Programme on the subject of crimes against women, POCSO Act and drugs abuse with the headmen, village elders from different villages of Urban Area and Women Organizations in the programme held at Muda Complex Nongpoh on the 8th July 2017. The programme was graced by the Deputy Commissioner, Shri C.P Gotmare IAS in the presence of Superintendent of Police Shri R. Singh IPS, DSPs and others police officials of Ri Bhoi District. The Resource persons of the day includes Police Officials like Smt. N.Wanniang, SI lectured on the topic “POCSO Act”, Smt. A. Khardewsaw, SI on the topic “ Crimes against Women and Children” Shri P.Marwein Inspector delivered on the topic “Drug abuse” and Shri S.Marsing DSP lectured on the rise of Crimes in the whole district. The Deputy Commissioner in his speech at the gathering appreciated and congratulated the steps taken by the police department for conducting the very important interactive programme on various issues concerning POCSO Act, Crimes against women and Children, drug abuse and other crimes which are on rise now a days. Adding that this meeting is one of the steps for a collaborating effort with the society for controlling and eradicating the crimes and abuses from the society. He said that it is the need of the hour to come together to fight against the menace of drug abuse, alcoholism and other social evils, it requires the help and support of each and every segments of society and also parents, friends, teachers and officials need to encourage and console young children when they are on failure or emotional conflicts and must tell them that failure or ups and downs are parts of life. Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner said that as our society is a matrilineal system, it is a matter of shame to the society that if the crimes against women and children is on the rises, thereby need to sit together, to discuss, to find out the reason and also unite to fight against it. |
