CM DISTRIBUTES DIGITAL LEARNING AID TO SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Shillong, July 30, 2014: As a part of Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Scheme, the District Administration, West Garo Hills, Tura organized Career Guidance, Career Mapping and Counselling Programme here today at SMELC Building, Dakopgre, Tura.

In his motivational talk on ‘Vision for Garo Hills Youth and Career Avenues’ to higher secondary students, teachers and other stakeholders, Chief Guest at the occasion, Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma said that the students need the right ‘hand holding’ and mentoring as many of the students are first generation students. He added that the government is committed to the cause of education and therefore there has been a paradigm shift in the allocation of funds and setting up of priorities.

Talking about Mission Green the Chief Minister informed that the mission will be driven aggressively thus requiring partners to make it a success story. He added that the youth can be the best partners in this programme as youth are the best advocates. He also informed that schools and educational institutions willing to set up nurseries will be provided financial assistance by the government. He urged the various stakeholders to drive the programmes in true spirit of partnership and collaboration.

Earlier the Chief Minister awarded the Pioneer of Education award to Fr Jonny, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura, Tyrone D Brass, Headmaster, Sherwood Secondary School, Tura and Sane C B Sangma, Headmistress, Aeroville Secondary School, Tura for being the most successful and innovative heads of institutions and for their outstanding contribution in the field of education. Certificates for enrolment for ‘Green Ambassadors for Green Living’ were also distributed during the function.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Guest of Honor, Minister, Sports and Youth Affairs etc, Zenith M Sangma, Minister, Power, Clement Marak, Parliamentary Secretaries Noverfield R Marak and Cherak W Momin.
