DISTRICT COORDINATION COMMITTEE HELD

Shillong, August 1, 2012: The District Co-ordination Committee, West Khasi Hills District, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. S Kharlyngdoh was held on July 31, 2012 at the Conference Hall of the DC’s Office. In the meeting, all officers from different departments including Mawkyrwat and Mairang Sub-Divisions were present. The meeting discussed the several issues like implementation of schemes and projects of different departments in the District, improvement of National Highway 44(E), construction of office building and office quarters, water supply to different offices and PHC, CHC, electricity failure, etc.

Further, the meeting also decided to declare holiday on August 3, 2012 to enable officers and staff to attend the inauguration of South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat.

PERSONAL INTERVIEW FOR THE POST OF GRAM SEVAK AND GRAM SEVIKA

Shillong, August 1, 2012: The Secretary, District Selection Committee, East Khasi Hills has informed the candidates who have qualified the written test examination for the post of Gram Sevak and Gram Sevika that the personal interview will be held on August 17, 2012. Candidates who have not received the call letter may contact the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, Room No. 201.

GOVERNMENT OF MEGHALAYA SIGNED MOU WITH APTECH ARENA ANIMATION

Shillong, August 1, 2012: The Meghalaya Information Technology Society (MITS), Society under the Information Technology Department, Government of Meghalaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aptech Arena Animation on August 1, 2012 at Shillong to provide Multimedia Education to the youth of the State.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Information Technology Department Mr. D. P. Wahlang on behalf of the State Government and Mr. S. H. Mawlong, Center Head, Aptech Arena Animation, Shillong on behalf of Aptech Arena Animation in the presence of Mr. A. L. Hek, Minister IT and Mr. Anirban Das, General Manager, Aptech Ltd.

According to the MoU, the Government will sponsor 100 youths by investing Rs. 35,200/- on each student to take the training for a 6 months course and Aptech Arena Animation will provide and Instructor-Led-Training (ILT) to students on Multimedia, Animation, Graphics and Web Designing. A certified Instructor will train the students on foundation of image-editing & publishing and graphics for various industries including print and publishing. The course will also cover web design, web graphics and interactivity. Students will learn to design interactive websites and portals and multimedia presentations with graphics and rich media.

The objective of the scheme is to enhance the employability factor of the youth in our State in the areas of Multimedia. Students who complete this course will be highly employable in Advertising agencies, graphic design studios, print and publishing houses, and TV production houses.

For this purpose, the Commissioner and Secretary, IT Department invited interested persons to register with the Information Technology Department, Government of Meghalaya or Aptech Arena.

TRAINING ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON WASTE PAPER RECYCLING

Shillong, August 1, 2012: The four-day ‘Technology-oriented Entrepreneurship Development Programme on Waste Paper-Recycling’, organized by the State Council of Science Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya in association with Mott Macdonald Pvt. Ltd concluded on July 28, 2012 at a simple function at Shillong Science Centre, NEHU Campus, Mawlai.

The programme was attended by 25 participants from different localities of Shillong where training was imparted on the production of recycled-papers out of waste papers. The programme witnessed active and encouraging participation by all the participating members and some of them have expressed desire to set up their own waste paper recycling units utilizing the knowledge gathered during this training programme.

Certificates of participation were also distributed to all the 25 participants during the function.
