CHIEF MINISTER INAUGURATES NEW EXTENSION SCHOOL BUILDING OF SYNOD SCHOOL

Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma, today inaugurated the New Extension School Building of Synod Higher Secondary School under the Supporting Human Capital Development in Meghalaya, a programme that is assisted by Asian Development Bank (ADB). Also present during the inauguration were MLA, North Shillong, Shri A Nongrum and Former MLA, North Shillong, Smt Roshan Warjri.

Delivering the Inaugural Address, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma expressing his happiness in creating the additional infrastructure for the school which would immensely benefit the students said that an amount of 3.69 crores was spent which included not only the building but the computer laboratories, furniture and other infrastructures. “There are many such schools which have been developed throughout the State under the human development programme which the government tool up jointly with ADB,” he informed. He said that 62 schools have been completed and 55 more are in progress and further added that four DIET and Teachers’ Training Institutes, ten pilot projects for Science laboratories and ten pilot projects for Computer laboratories, teachers training and training for youth are being taken up under the Human Capital Development Programme.

“For us as a government also, human development is going to be the biggest challenge and adequate importance must be given to the human development programmes therefore realizing the importance of human development, the government is keen to take forward the second phase of this programme,” said the Chief Minister. He further informed that around four to five lakh youth will join the workforce in the coming years and it is important to provide them with the right skill and to ensure that jobs are created for them. “With the kind of enthusiasm, support and work put in by all the stakeholders we can achieve and overcome all the challenges of developing the human resource,” stated the Chief Minister.

“It is sad to see so many assets that have been created which are unutilized in various departments but whatever investment we have put in this building the returns will multi fold because the return that Education institutes give back to society is immense,” he said. Earlier, the Chief Minister also launched the school website.

CHIEF MINISTER LAUNCHES E-CHAMPION CHALLENGE WEBSITE

Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma, today launched the Chief Minister’s e-champion challenge website a platform to promote and push entrepreneurship growth in the state. Speaking during the launch, the Chief Minister said that this is a part of the drive of the government to promote and give recognition to the entrepreneurs of the State and create ecosystem for entrepreneurship culture in the State. “Competitions are a good way to get the interest of the youth and to help them excel in whatever they do, through this e-champion challenge we will be selecting entrepreneurs and we will be rewarding one lakh to the top twenty five business ideas and fifty thousand to the next best twenty five and we urge the youth to join and be a part of this competition,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s e-champion challenge is an online platform where entrepreneurs can log in and register themselves where an entrepreneur will be asked a set of questions and based on their answers they will be selected where they will be able to put up their ideas to the panel of judges.
