CM INAUGURATE DHS PERMANENT OFFICE

Shillong August 14:"Coordination between the referral centers the CHC’s and PHC’s is of utmost importance and is possible through use of modern technology that would relieve the patients of rural areas from the burden of seeking private treatment” said the Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma while inaugurating the Director of Health services (DHS) permanent Office Complex at Laitumkhrah, Shillong on August 14, 2010.

“Malaria and Cancer are two major diseases affecting the people in the State and often when it is diagnosed and detected it is found to have acquired advanced proportions and a close coordination between the referral government hospital and the doctor at CHCs and PHCs can help in early detection” the CM said.

He also said the permanent structure of the health department is in a way an incentive for the employees of the Health Department. He said that the government is committed to provide a good infrastructure for the health care facilities in the state and announced that by September 2010 South Garo Hills shall have a new civil hospital. He said that the women of the State has some inherent qualities related to nursing and care and the nurses from Meghalaya are among the best in the country and by exploring such potential the State can become a favourite health care destination in the country.

The foundation stone of the new DHS located in Laitumkhrah was laid on August 14 2006 and within four years the building was commissioned at an estimated cost of Rs 3.28 cr. on 28000 sqft of plinth area with latest architectural design. The complex consists of a parking bay for 50 vehicles along with a guest house.

Amongst those who spoke on the occasion included Rowel Lyngdoh the Deputy Chief Minister in Charge of Health in the State who exhorted upon the employees of the health department to emulate better work culture.

Those present on the occasion also included W M S Pariat, the Chief secretary besides the DHS and officers and employees of the department.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT SHILLONG

Shillong August 16: Together with the rest of the country, Meghalaya also today celebrated the Independence Day celebration throughout the State.

In the State Capital, Shillong, the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute at the impressive parade by the 16 parade contingents consisting of the 58Gorkha Regiment, BSF, 67CRPF, 1st MLP Bn, District Executive Force, Border Wings Home Guards, Assam Rifles Public School, Loreto convent school, Shillong Public School, Pine Mount School, St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, BSF Secondary School, Scout and Guides and the NCC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Shillong.

The Highlights of the day were cultural shows depicting national integration were presented by students of BSF Secondary School, Kiddie’s Corner school, Government Girls Secondary School, St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Mizo Modern School, Loreto Convent school and a performance by ‘Snap Paka’, a local cultural troupe.

School parade contingents that won prizes are 1st prize Loreto convent school, 2nd prize Pine Mount School and 3rd prize BSF Secondary school .

The names of three police personnel of the State who received the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services were announced during the celebration which includes Shri Vancouver Kharkongor, DSP (SB) for Distinguished Service. Shri. Dharmendra Kumar Prasad, Reserve Inspector and Shri Hira Bhadur Thapa AB constable of the 1st MLP Bn were awarded for meritorious service. While Shri De Barson Rymbai, Centre Commander (DTC) has been awarded the Home Guards & Civil Defence Medal for meritorious service.

LEGAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN TO BE HELD

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Shillong, August 16, 2010: Together with the rest of the country, the 64th Independence Day was celebrated on August 15, 2010 in all the Districts, Sub-Divisions and Administrative Units of the State with great fanfare.

At Tura, West Garo Hills District, a record gathering of several thousand people attended the official celebration that was held at the MP Stadium. Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Mr. Charles Pyngrope unfurled the national flag and took the salute before a 42 strong marching contingent. As part of the celebration, a dazzling cultural programe was presented by school and college children. Cash prizes and citations were given to students who topped this year’s Class X and Class XII examinations from Garo Hills. At the same time, prizes were also awarded to the winners of the Freedom Run Marathon organized on the occasion of the Independence Day Celebration. At Baghmara, South Garo Hills District, Shri A T Mondal, Minister of Power and Excise etc unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute of the marching contingents in a ceremony held at the Government Higher Secondary School playground. Inspire of incessant rainfall people from in and around Baghmara gathered to witness the celebrations. The First Handbook on District Administration was released by the Chief Guest to mark the occasion. Seedlings of different trees were also planted by the dignitaries and guests present on the day. The District Administration also awarded certificates for Best Office Management to the Department of Fishery and Best Locality to Rangdokram area of Baghmara. Awards were also given away to the winners of the best marching contingents, best cultural performance, winner of the Independence Day Run and essay competition. At Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya Minister for Social Welfare etc., Mr. J A Lyngdoh unfurled the National Tri colour and took the Rashtriya Salute of the a march past compromising of 18 contingents marching under Parade Commander, Sub-Inspector S Uphadhya and 2nd Parade commander SI J Swer. The celebrations were held the NSCA Mini Stadium, Pahamsyiem, Nongpoh. Local MLA, Dr. D. D. Lapang and MLA of Mawhati Mr. D Khamdeit were also present on the occasion. Other highlights of the day included presentation of cultural programmes, distribution of prizes to winners of the best marching contingents and a tug of war held between the District Official and members of NSCA. Free food packets were also distributed to the inmates of the Leprosy Colony, patients of Nongpoh CHC, Orphanage at Mawtnum, Ferrandos Institute of Speech and Hearing among others. At Jowai, Jaintia Hills District, the Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. B M Lanong took the Rashtriya Salute and inspected the marching contingents comprising of 29 contingents drawn from schools, Police, Home Guards, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides at the Jrisalein playground, Jowai. The other highlight of the day included cultural programmes, mass drills presented by students of different schools located at Jowai. A marathon was also organized in the early hours of the morning as part of the celebration. At Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, District, the Meghalaya Minister for Home, Mr. H.D.R. Lyngdoh unfurled the National Flag and took the Salute of the marching contingents at Rongrenggre Higher SecondarySchool. Other attractions include cultural and patriotic songs and dances by school children and culminating with a final football match of the Independence Day Cup. At Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills, District, Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Mr. Sanbor Shullai unfurled the National flag to the tune of the National anthem and took the salute at the impressive march past of 27 contingents which include the police NCC, Bharat Scout & Guide and school students at St’Peter’s Higher Secondary School’s play ground. Other highlights of the day are cultural programmes, distribution of food packets to the patients of Civil hospital, Green pastures home and St Peter’s Orphanage Pyndengrei.

At Mawkyrwat Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya , Mr. Lakmen Rymbui, unfurled the tricolor and took the Rashtriya salute of an impressive march past comprising of 16 parade contingents comprising of Police, Scouts and Guides, NCC and school students. On the occasion tableaux were also presented by the PHE, Health and Agriculture department. Sports and games for children, cultural programmes, distribution of food items to patients in CHC Mawkyrwat and an exhibition football match between the Mawkyrwat Sub-Division Officers Welfare Association and Teachers, Mawkyrwat Sub-Division were other highlights of the day. At Sohra Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Dr. P W Khongjee unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive parade of marching contingents comprising of the District Armed and Unarmed Branch, NCC and school contingents of Sohra at Pynshadkhurai playground, Saitsophen, Sohra. Cultural programme, distribution of gift packages to inmates of NRM Hospital and St John’s Orphanage, Maraikaphon, Sohra were other highlights of the day. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the Marchpast competition in which Cherra Presbyterian Secondary School bagged the 1st prize followed by Ram Krishna Mission (Junior) and Agape Secondary School, Pamsohmen. At Resubelpara Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mr. Ismail R Marak unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of 14 marching contingents at the playground of Tekachang LP School. Besides Government officials and dignitaries, a large number of people from in and around Resubelpara participated in the programme. At Mairang Civil Sub-Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mr. Remington Pyngrope unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of 8 marching contingents comprising of school students, NCC, Bharat Guides and Police at Madan Mot Tirot. Cultural programmes and sports events also added the festivities. At Ampati Civil Sub- Division, The Minister for Education, Ms. Ampareen Lyngdoh unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute of 17 marching contingents at the Ampati Students’s Plaground. Other highlight includes cultural and patriotic songs and dances by school children and culminating with a final football match organized by the Ampati Youth Welfare Club. Food items, including fruits were also distributed to the patients at Ampati CHC as part of the celebrations. Besides, the celebration at Ampati Sub-Division headquarters, the day was also celebrated at the C&RD Blocks at Betasing and Zikzak. At Khliehriat Civil Sub- Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mr. Shitlang Pale unfurled the National Flag and took the Salute of the marching contingents at the Khliehriat Higher Secondary School play ground. Other highlights include day long cultural programme, presentation of prizes to the students for various competitions. At Amlarem Civil Sub- Division, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mr. S. W. Rymbai unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the 8 marching contingents consisting of the police and students at a function held at Amlarem L.P.School playground. At Dadenggre Civil Sub- Division, The Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Mr. Augustine D. Marak unfurled the National Tricolour an took the Rashtriya Salute of 9 marching contingents including MLP 2nd Battalion under the command of Sub-Inspector S. Manners.

At Patharkhmah Administrative Unit, Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Dr. A. Pariong unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the 10 marching contingents in an impressive function held at Patharkhmah Stadium. At Mawshynrut Administrative Block, the Additional District Magistrate, West Khasi Hills, Shri W.Nongsiej unfurled the National Flag and took the Salute of the marching contingents of Police and school students at Riangdo Sport Complex. Others programme of the day include the cultural items, distribution of food packets to the patients of Christ King Dispensary and CHC Riangdo.

CALL LETTERS FOR THE GRADE IV WRITTEN EXAMINATION ISSUES

Shillong, August 16, 2010: The Secretary, District Selection Committee, East Khasi Hills District has informed to all the Candidates who have applied for the post of Grade IV 2010 that call letters for the conduct of written examination to be held on 28th August, 2010 have been issued and dispatched. ELECTION TO WILLIAMNAGAR MUNICIPAL BOARD

Shillong, August 16, 2010: The Government of Meghalaya has notified on August 13, 2010 the conduct of Election to Municipalities of Williamnagar Municipal Board on September 29, 2010 with the detailed programme as follows:

Date of publication of Draft Electoral Roll and the last date for filling claims and objection will be on August 20, 2010. Disposal of claims and objection will be on September 3, 2010. The final publication of the Electoral Roll and nomination will be on September 6, 2010. The last date for filling of nomination is on September 13, 2010 up to 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination will be undertaken on September 15, 2010 from 10 am to 4 pm. The last date of publication of list of validly nominated candidates will be announce on September 15, after 4 pm. Candidates who want to withdraw from their candidature will be on September 20, 2010 before 3 pm. Date of allotment of symbol will be made on the same day i.e. September 20, 2010 at 3 pm. List of final contesting candidates will be announce on September 20, 2010. The last date of campaigning has been fixed on September 27, 2010. Polling date will be September 29, 2010 from 8 am to 4 pm. Date of re-polling if any will be held on September 30, 2010. The date of counting has been fixed on October 1, 2010.
