Press Release No. 299/12 SEMINAR ON EMERGING AND RE EMERGING ZOONOTIC DISEASES Shillong, August 17, 2012: The Disease Investigation and Disease Surveillance Wing of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department Meghalaya, Shillong organized one day seminar at Pinewood Hotel on 17th August 2012, Shillong. The project is under the Centrally Sponsored scheme, Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD). The theme of the seminar is “Emerging and Re-emerging Zoonotic Diseases - One Way Health Approach” Mr. B.M. Lanong, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Government of Meghalaya, the Chief Guest on the occasion, released the Bulletin 2011. In his inaugural address the Chief Guest congratulated for bringing up the theme “Emerging and Re-emerging Zoonotic Disease-One Way Health Approach” which enlighten the view regarding the track under animals and how to care it concerning the treatment of animals. It will get into the right approaches and solution we are facing. In these context animals are special and should take good care of. Seminar today will do great help to our state if we diagnose this properly and if the resolution reaches out to the public, he added. Dr L. Lyngwa, Director, A.H & Veterinary Department said that zoonotic diseases are illness spread amongst animals and pets which are in the form of viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasite infections. We need to cooperate to work on today’s world to challenge contagious diseases. Role of Veterinary medicine and animal health as well as public health are very important, he stated. |
