COMMUNITY HEALTH AWARENESS AND SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME

A one day Community Awareness and Sensitization Programme was held at Jarain Community Hall, Amlarem Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills on 17th August, 2016. The programme was organized by the District Medical & Health Office, Jowai under the Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with National Health Mission and technical support from UNICEF. A team of medical doctors and medical health mission officers sensitized the public on various health care topics and medical health care programmes of the department. The public was also made aware of the various health care schemes of the Government and the facilities that are being provided to improve health care services in the region.

TENNIS COACHING PROGRAMME

With the prime objective of promoting young Tennis players from the grass root level, the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs is starting a Grass Root Tennis Coaching Centre at Tennis Court Centre, JNS Complex, Polo, Shillong. The Coaching programme is being initiated under the replication programme of the award winning initiative ‘Hum Chuyeenge Aasman’. For this, an invitation is extended to young boys and girls in the age group of 7 to 12 years old who are interested in joining the Coaching Centre. Players who have already attained some standard may also enrol at the Tennis Coaching Centre for regular coaching. The coaching will be imparted from Monday-Saturday from 3PM-6 PM. The coaching is absolutely free but rackets, personal clothing and shoes will have to be arranged by the parents/guardians including dropping and picking up after practice. Registration Form is available in the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, JNS Complex, Shillong and last date for submission of registration form is on the 29th August, 2016.
