DRIVE IN CAFETERIA INAUGURATED AT MAWKDOK

Shillong, August 19, 2010: The Meghalaya Minister for Tourism, Mrs. Ampareen Lyngdoh today unveiled a plague to mark the inauguration of the Drive In Cafeteria at Mawkdok in the presence of Dr. P W Khongjee, Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism and Shri. R V Lyngdoh, Chairman of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation.

In view of the large number of tourist visiting Sohra , the Tourism Department renovated the PWD IB at Mawkdoh, keeping the old structure and style, to a Drive In Cafeteria to provide the essential services and amenities. The Drive-In Cafeteria has been handed for management to the Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong, which in turn is training around 25 locals of Mawkdoh in hospitality services. On completion of the training, the locals will be provided with a kitchen kit to enable them to carry forward their career in hospitality and service which will generate self employment and self reliance.

FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRESERVATION TRAINING

Shillong, August 19, 2010: A training programme on Fruit and Vegetable Preservation will be conducted in the office of the Fruit Preservation Centre, Shillong from September 6 to 10th, 2010. Interested candidates are requested to register their names during office hours in the office of the Asst. Director of Horticulture (FP), Fruit Preservation Centre, Fruit Garden, Shillong.
