EPIC PROGRAMME

The Deputy Commissioner (Election), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that the 3rd Round of photography for issuance of fresh Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to all electors of the Assembly Constituencies of 26-Nongkrem (ST) will commence from 7th August to 14th August, 2006, for 27-Lyngkyrdem (ST) from 7th August to 16th August, 2006, for 25-Dienglieng (ST) from 7th August to 24th August, 2006, for 15-Mylliem (ST) from 7th August to 21st August, 2006, for 24-Sohryngkham (ST) from 7th August to 21st August, 2006 and for 28-Nongshken (ST) from 7th August to 19th August, 2006.

All voters are requested to get themselves photographed during the campaign period in their respective designated photographic locations. Those electors who possess the old Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) are also to be photographed afresh in order to facilitate printing of the Photo Elector Rolls.

1ST JAINTIA FEATURE FILM RELEASED

The Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, Mr. F. R. Kharkongor released the first Jaintia feature film titled “Man-I-Sa” at a special function held at the Yungwalieh Club Hall at Panaliar, Jowai on July 29, 2006.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kharkongor lauded the effort of the Yaman Creations, a local organization who produced the film, for its efforts in successfully bringing out the film and for giving a platform to the youth to showcase their talents in film acting. He said that their pioneering efforts in film making in this part of the country would definitely encourage others to join this venture. Stating that Jaintia Hills has many tourist spots, he urged upon the members of the Yaman Creations to focus on the places of interest so as to expose the same to the outside world and thereby encourage tourism in the District and the State as a whole.
