Press Release No. 398/19 FIT INDIA MOVEMENT LAUNCHED IN SHILLONG Fit India Movement, a nationwide movement that was launched today by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at India Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Delhi was also launched in Meghalaya here today by Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma. Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma launched the Fit India Movement in the State by ‘Walk to Work’ and walking from his official residence at Polo to the Secretariat where an official launch programme was held at Yojana Bhawan, Main Secretariat. Speaking to the gathering, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma said that the people of the State are aware of fitness and has been a part of tradition and culture and even in the present times a lot of the youth of the State are physically very active. “The problem is that in our day to day lives and the different responsibilities that we have as a student, officer or public leader we sometimes tend to forget that aspect and this programme today is to remind us to take out a certain time in our day to remain active and fit,” he said. He added that Fitness is not just about the physical health but a holistic well being and fitness of physical, mental and spiritual health. The Chief Minister also said that as a part of the Fit India Movement, the Walk to Work on Wednesday in short called WWW would be initiated by him wherein the Chief Minister would walk to office once a week on Wednesdays. “I request all officials, students and whoever who would like to join this campaign to walk to work and their institutions on Wednesdays,” he said. He said though this is not mandatory for all as there are challenges and constraints of distance and other factors he urged all to whom it is possible to join WWW and added that by doing this it will have multiple benefits as it would reduce carbon emissions, reduce traffic , save expenses on fuel at the same time improve health. The Chief Minister also briefly highlighted the various initiatives of the government in the Health sector. The Chief Minister earlier administered the Fitness pledge to the gathering. Also present during the launch were Minister, Health, Shri A L Hek, Chief Secretary, Shri P S Thangkhiew and other senior officials and heads of departments. |
Press Release No. 399/19 GOVERNMENT OF MEGHALAYA LAUNCHES CHIEF MINISTER'S CIVIL SERVICES FELLOWS Chief Minister of Meghalaya Shri Conrad Sangma launched the Chief Minister's Civil Services Fellows on 29th August 2019 (Scholarship worth 1 crore for 100 Youth) which has created an Opportunity for Deserving and Talented IAS Aspirants of Meghalaya to undergo free of cost coaching from ALS IAS.ALS IAS which is India's Largest IAS Coaching Network has more than 75 centers across India including 30 in North East along with 2837 selections in UPSC till date including 154 selections last year.ALS has also been honored with similar Sponsorship for IAS Training from Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur in the past. National Sales Head ALS Shri Prateek Bhattacharya also announced Scholarship worth 1 crore for 265 Aspirants under ALS CSR Initiative for Youth of Meghalaya.This announcement has created an Opportunity for 365 IAS Aspirants of Meghalaya to avail of Scholarship sponsored by Government of Meghalaya and ALS. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the selection of 100 students sponsored under Chief Minister's Civil Services Fellows will be based on Meghalaya Reservation Roster List to give equal opportunity to students from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills. The Scholarship Exam will be conducted on 15th September 2019 in all District Headquarters of Meghalaya under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of each district. Application Forms will be made available from 4th September in all Deputy Commissioner office with last date of Form submission being 12th September. Results of the Exam will be generated on 22nd September and Batches will commence from 30th September. Students selected from Khasi/Jaintia Hills shall undergo their IAS training at ALS IAS Shillong whereas students selected from Garo Hills shall undergo training at ALS IAS Tura via cutting edge VSAT Technology where LIVE Transmission of classes being conducted in ALS Delhi campus would be given and students will learn from Best IAS Mentors of the country.Dedicated Academic Mentors from Delhi shall also be sent by ALS to Meghalaya to monitor, motivate and guide the students during thier training along with monthly visits which will be made by IAS/IPS officers serving in Meghalaya to inspire the candidates. ALS hopes that this path breaking initiative taken by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya will be able to transform the youth of Meghalaya and produce results in Civil Services in the coming years. |
