Press Release No. 522/18 INTENSIFIED DIARRHOEA CONTROL FORTNIGHT LAUNCHED AT MAWLAINGUT “Diarrhoea is a major cause of death for children below 5years of age” said Shri L. Blah, Mawphlang MDC while launching the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) 2018 at Mawlaingut, Diengiei, East Khasi Hills District. Shri L. Blah said that through proper sanitation and hygiene and by cultivating healthy habits diarrhoea can be prevented. He also urged the students to be the ambassadors for the campaign in spreading the message to others. The Chief Guest distributed prizes to winners of the extempore speech and drawing competitions held as part of the fortnight campaign. During the day, hand washing demonstration and use of ORS was imparted to the students. The programme was organized by the District Health Society, NHM, East Khasi Hills District was attended by Dr. J. B. Ranee, District, MCH Officer, East Khasi Hills, Smti O. Sumer, DHEO, East Khasi Hills, Dr. L. Syiemlieh, Medical & Health Officer, I/c Diengiei PHC, Shri W. Pamdhai, District Programme Manager, teachers and school children from the area. The fortnight will be observed from 1st to 14th August, 2018. |
