Press Release No. 311/12 URBAN HEALTH CENTRE TO BE INAUGURATED Shillong, August 31, 2012: The new Urban Health Centre, approved under the aegis of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), will be inaugurated on September 1, 2012 by the Meghalaya Minister in-charge Urban Affairs, etc. Mrs. M Ampareen Lyngdoh at Jaiaw Langsning, Shillong at 11:00 AM. The main objective of the Urban Health Centre is to provide health care services to the urban populace especially the poor and the marginalized section of the society with special emphasis on the maternal and child health services. The Health Centre will have a fulltime lady doctor and nurses and will be available from Monday to Saturday. Regular OPD, Reproductive & Child Health Services, Immunization Services, Community based health activities and adolescent friendly health services will be the key activities and services to be provided in the Urban Health Centre. |
Press Release No. 312/12 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER PYKKA PROGRAMME Shillong, August 31, 2012: The Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA), a Government of India flagship programme offers financial assistance for providing basic sports infrastructure, sports equipments and structure annual competitions starting from blocks, districts, state and the national level. Under the programme, financial assistance is given to the Village/Block PYKKA Centre for sports infrastructure at the rate of Rs. 1.00 lakh for each village PYKKA and Rs. 5.00 lakhs for each Block Centre. Annual Acquisition Grant for procuring sports equipments, accessories, sports fixtures, consumables and repairs/maintenance is being given at the rate of Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- for each village PYKKA and Block Centre respectively. Annual Operational Grant to meet operational expenses of non-competition activities-honorarium to Kridashree and maintenance of infrastructure at the rate of Rs. 10,000/- for village centre and Rs. 20,000/- for block centre. For annual competition, grant for organising tournament at block, district and state level is being given at the rate of Rs. 50,000/- per Block at the rate of Rs. 10,000/- per discipline for 5 disciplines, at District level Rs. 2,00,000/- per district at the rate of Rs. 20,000/- per discipline for 10 disciplines and at the State level Rs. 10,00,000/- at the rate of Rs. 1,00,000/- per discipline for 10 disciplines. In the State of Meghalaya, PYKKA programme was implemented in the year 2009-10 and altogether there are 39 Block Centres and 416 Village Centres. So far the 1st and 2nd grants under PYKKA in all the 3 components have been released to the District Level Executive Committees where the Deputy Commissioners and Chairman & District Sports Officers are Member Secretary. Altogether 8 block centres, one from each district and 83 village centres drawn from all the districts-16 blocks and 166 village centres have been covered in the last two years and grants for the 3rd year (2010-11) have been received from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. |
Press Release No. 313/12 R R MEMORIAL DEBATE COMPETITION HELD Shillong, August 31, 2012: Meghalaya College Teachers Association organized the 9th R R Thomas Memorial Inter College Debate Competition at Sankardev College, Shillong on 31st August 2012. The Motion of the Debate is “Information Technology has stimulated creativity of the youth to attain higher Levels”. Leader of the Opposition Mr Conrad Sangma addressing the concluding function said that Information Technology is an important tool where we can access information with just a click of a mouse. He said that Information Technology if utilized properly will benefit all of us but if people misuse it than it can creates problem for all. He also mentioned that using IT will take creativity to a higher level if it can be used in a proper manner. The best team for the debate competition was bagged by St Anthony’s College with Bipasha Bhattacharjee and Vivek Das, 1st Runner’s up from St Edmund’s College with Sneha Dutta and Prantho Saikia and 2nd Runner’s up from UCC College. Best Debator of the day was won by Ms Sneha Dutta from St Edmund’s College. |

Press Release No. 315/12 TRANSPORT MINISTER LAUNCHED THE WEBSITE FOR ONLINE PAYMENT OF VEHICLE REGISTRATION FEES AND TAXES Shillong, August 31, 2012: Meghalaya Transport Minister, Mr. A. T. Mondal today officially launched the website for Online Registration of Vehicles and Payment of Road taxes at the Information Technology Building Conference hall, Shillong in the presence of Mr. W.M.S. Pariat, Chief Secretary, Mr. J. P. Prakash, Principal Secretary Transport Department, Smti S. N. Marak, Commissioner of Transport, Mr. T. Dkhar, State Informatics Officer amongst others. It may be mentioned that the Online Payment of Transport Fees and Taxes is a system for registration of new vehicles at the dealer’s showroom. This service will enable the car dealer to initiate the vehicle registration process by entering all the details and subsequently making online payment of vehicle registration fees and road tax using net-banking facility with the State Bank of India. The system can be accessed online at meghalalyaonline.gov.in which a link will be provided to a secure portalhttps://vahan.meg.nic.in of Transport Department. This pilot project for new registration of private vehicles can be done at the District Transport Office, Shillong and can be used by dealers, motor vehicle inspectors and vehicle owners. Dedicating the launch of Online Registration of Vehicles and Payment of Road taxes to the people of the State, Mr. A. T. Mondal said that this portal is a citizen centric service which aims to facilitate services of the Transport Department. This portal can also be used to access all the details of vehicles and this in turn may deter vehicle theft.. Mr. Mondal appeal to all the car dealers in the city to cooperate in providing the required information by using this portal to speed up and improve efficiency in the matter of Registration of new vehicles and payment of road taxes which will helps improve the service delivery to the people of the State. Meghalaya Chief Secretary, Mr. W. M. S. Pariat, while appreciating the efforts of the transport department and the NIC in conceptualizing and putting together this IT enable services, said that the online service of the transport department will play a very important role in managing the services of the transport department. |
