BUS ARRANGEMENT FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that the District Administration has arrange buses for public conveyance on the 15th August 2006 to and from the venue of Independence Day Celebration at Polo Ground, Shillong.

For residence of Laban and its adjoining areas, bus will start from Laban and the pick up point will be Lawsohtun, Laban and Kench’s Trace. For residence of Kyrbom and its adjoining areas, bus will start from Kyrbom and the pick up point will be District Council and Military Hospital. For residence of Jaiaw and its adjoining areas starting point is from Jaiaw and the pick up point will be Mawkhar and Motphran. For residence of Mawlai and its adjoining areas the bus will start from Mawlai petrol pump and the pick up point will be Mawlai area, Mawroh and Police Training School. For residence of 7th Mile Upper Shillong and its adjoining areas the starting point will be from 7th Mile and the bus will proceed straight to Polo Ground. For residence of Mawblei, Madanrting and its adjoining areas the starting point will be from Madanrting and the pick up point will be Nongthymmai and Malki Point. For residence of Rynjah and its adjoining areas, the starting point will be from Rynjah and the pick up point will be Nongrim Hills, Laitumkhrah-Police Point and Don Bosco and for residence of Happy Valley the starting point will be from Happy Valley and the pick up point will be Nongthymmai, Fire Brigade and Fruit Garden.

All the buses will start from 7.00 AM. onwards and will proceed to Polo Ground, Shillong.

PRICES OF ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES

The Additional Director, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that the following are the retail price of essential commodities as on August 10, 2006.

The price per kg of Rice is Rs. 12.00 (Common), Rs. 11.00/Rs.12.00 (Fine) and Rs. 13.00/Rs. 18.00 (Packet Parimal), the price of Atta is Rs. 12.00/Rs 13.00 and Maida is Rs. 14.50/Rs. 15.00 per kg, for Gramdal the price is Rs. 31.00/34.00 per kg, for Tur Dal, the price of Ahar is Rs. 31.00/Rs. 34.00, Rs. 26.00/Rs. 32.00 for Masur and Rs. 43.00/Rs. 54.00 per kg for Moong, for Sugar, the price is Rs. 22.00/Rs. 23.00 per kg, for Mustard Oil, the price is Rs. 57.00/Rs 72.00 per kg, for Vanaspati Oil, the price is Rs. 54.00/Rs. 60.00 per kg, for Tea, the price is Rs. 120.00/170.00 (loose) and Rs. 160.00/Rs. 196.00 (packet) per kg, for Potato, the price is Rs. 07.00/Rs. 11.00 per kg, for Onion, the price is Rs. 08.00/Rs. 13.00 per kg, for Salt, the price is Rs. 07.00/Rs. 09.00 (packet) and Rs. 04.00/Rs. 05.00 per kg (loose), for Gur, the price is Rs. 18.00/Rs 26.00 per kg and for Milk (Toned milk), the price is Rs. 26.50 per litre.

DISTRIBUTION OF BPL, AAY AND ANNAPURNA RICE IN RI BHOI DISTRICT

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that rice under BPL, AAY and Annapurna has been released and will be distributed through respective Fair Price Shop with effect from 16th August 2006.

For BPL card holder’s rice will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per card per month at the rate of Rs. 6.75 per kg. For AAY card holder’s the scale is 35 kg per card per month at the rate of Rs. 3.00 per kg and for Annapurna card holders the scale is 10 kg per card per month free of cost.

Any non supply or overcharging or supply of inferior quality by the supplier should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh.

DRIVE AGAINST ILLICIT LIQUOR

In the ongoing drive against illicit liquor the Excise Staff, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong conducted raids in restaurants/stalls in town and in its outskirts during the month of July 20006 wherein 64 cases where detected and seizure of 409.015 litre of i/d liquor and 1.915 litre IMFL were made.

In this connection 55 people were arrested in this connection. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) East Khasi Hills District, Shillong.
