GOVERNOR INDUCTED AS CHIEF PATRON OF MEGHALAYA BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES

In a prestigious ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong the Governor of Meghalaya, Shri. Phagu Chauhan, was officially inducted as the Chief Patron of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides. The induction of the Governor as Chief Patron is a significant milestone for Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides and the organisation is confident that with his extensive experience and leadership, the Governor will provide guidance and support to the organization in its endeavors to empower and mentor the youth of Meghalaya. The official induction of the Governor, was conducted by the State Training Commissioner Aidor Ryngksai, LT(S), symbolizing the transfer of responsibility and trust.

Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides is a renowned organization that aims to in still values, discipline, and leadership qualities among the youth through various scouting and guiding activities. With the Governors patronage, the organization is poised to reach new heights and make a lasting impact on the young minds of Meghalaya.

GOVERNOR ATTENDS 3RD ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF SHILLONG ALL FAITH FORUM (SAFF)

The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Phagu Chauhan today graced the 3rd anniversary celebration of Shillong All Faith Forum (SAFF) as the Chief Guest. Held at Bianchi Memorial Hall, Lachumiere, Shillong, the event witnessed the convergence of all faith leaders, community members, and distinguished guests to underscore the importance of unity, understanding, and environmental responsibility. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor lauded the events theme, Peace, Harmony, and Environment and highlighted the intrinsic connection between divinity and humanity with peace and harmony at its core.

Citing Indias theme for its G20 Presidency, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (One Earth - One Family - One Future), the Governor commended the formation of organizations such as the SAFF and its objective to fearlessly champion values of peace, justice, and respect for human life. Pointing out the need for environmental consciousness, the Governor likened Earth as a mother and emphasized the significance of treating her with affection and regard. In this regard, the Governor urged faith leaders to lead the way in advocating for peace, harmony, and a collective reverence for the environment. Subsequently, the Governor expressed hope that the SAFF will continue to champion peace and harmony along with responsible environmental practices and set an excellent example for the rest of the country. The programme was enliven by songs and dances performed by different religious groups.

NCC CADETS FELICITATED

The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri. Phagu Chauhan today felicitated the NCC Cadets of Shillong Group who represented North Eastern Directorate in the Republic Day Camp 2023 at New Delhi. In his address, the Governor appreciated the cadets for their brilliant performance and said that participating in the Republic Day Camp is the pinnacle of a cadets training as the Camp provides opportunity to cadets to showcase their talents and exposes them to the rich culture and traditions of other states of our nation through various activities organized there.

Stating that as youth of the nation, the NCC cadets represent the Amrit Generation of the country which will take the nation to new heights in the coming 25 years and will create a Viksit and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Governor said that the centrality of youth is the key energy that runs a nation. When dreams turn into resolution and a life is dedicated to it then success is assured. This is the time of new opportunities for you the youth of India. Everywhere it is evident that Indias time has arrived. Entire world is looking towards India and it is all due to the youth of India.When the country is brimming with the energy and enthusiasm of the youth, the priorities of that country will always be its young people, the youth of India are its biggest beneficiaries, he said.

Stressing that the future destiny of India will depend on how the youth involve themselves in the task of nation building, he urged the NCC cadets to dedicate themselves to serve the nation and also to involve themselves and participate in conserving the environment and preserving heritage.

The Republic Day Camp is the culmination of all NCC training activities of the year where around 1800 cadets from all over the country participate. This year there were 120 cadets from NER directorate who attended the camp, out of which 13 cadets were from Shillong Group. The fact that the cadets were selected from out of 1 lakh candidates from across the State is a testimony of their exceptional qualities, calibre and capability.
