DEPUTY COMMISSIONER’S CLARIFICATION ON A NEWS ITEM

The Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills district noted with concern the news item which appeared in a section of the press under the caption "Phah Ophisar Sha West Khasi Hills Tang Ki Ba La Shah Kyntait"(posting of discarded officers in West Khasi Hills).

The Deputy Commissioner hereby pointed out that the above allegation is totally baseless and unwarranted. It is considered as an effort to malign the image and demoralize the morale of the officers in the District as a whole. At the same time the Deputy Commissioner reminds one and all of the press releases issued from time to time which urged the general public to bring to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner any irregularities found involving the government officials duly stating specifically the names of the office/ officers concerned, date and time of such matters so that appropriate action could be taken accordingly.

It is further reiterated that strict vigilance on the activities, performances of the officers of the District is being regularly monitored apart from surprise visit and confidential inquiry used from time to time.

Finally as Government officials in service, it is their bounded duty to assist and favour genuine grievances duly supported by facts and figures only without any prejudices whatsoever.

RECRUITMENT RALLY FOR THE POST OF SOLDIERS (ARMY)

The Director, Sainik Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, Shillong has inform that the recruitment rally for enrolment in all categories of soldiers (Army) for all the Districts of the State is scheduled to be held at Williamnagar from October 21-30, 2005 and the written exam will be conducted at the rally site on October 30, 2005.

MEGHALAYA CM SENT CONDOLENCES TO DESHMUKH

The Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. D D Lapang has sent a condolence message to the people of Maharashtra who have loss their lives and properties caused by the incessant and unprecedented heavy rainfall in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra during the last few days which had submerged a large part of Mumbai and other parts of Mumbai and other places and left people stranded for many hours on the roads.

Dr. Lapang in a condolence message to the Maharashtra, Chief Minister, Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, expressed his anguished on the colossal loss of lives and properties, with the miseries of the Government and the people with the disruption of normal life and the suspension of road, rail and air-services, knew no bounds.

Dr. Lapang on behalf of the State Government and the people of Meghalaya has conveyed his deepest condolences to the Government and the people of Maharashtra and the members of the bereaved families and pray that God Almighty gives strength and courage to them at the hour of crisis, and may the departed souls may rest in peace.
