EPIC PHOTOGRAPHY

The Deputy Commissioner (Election), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that the 3rd Round of photography for issuance of fresh Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) will commence from 6th September, 2006.

For 16-Malki Nongthymmai (ST) Assembly Constituency, photography will commence from 6th September, 2006 to 14th September, 2006: for 19-Jaiaw (ST) Assembly Constituency from 6th September, 2006 to 9th September 2006: for 20-Mawkhar (ST) Assembly Constituency from 6th September, 2006 to 9th September, 2006: for 21-Mawprem (ST) Assembly Constituency from 6th September, 2006 to 11th September, 2006: for 22-Laban (GEN) Assembly Constituency from 6th September, 2006 to 9th September, 2006 and for 23-Mawlai (ST) Assembly Constituency from 6th September, 2006 to 13th September 2006.

All voters are requested to avail this opportunity to get themselves photographed during the campaign period in their respective designated photographic locations. Those electors who possess the old Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) are also to be photographed afresh. Photography of all electors will be done afresh in order to facilitate printing of the Photo Electoral Rolls.

The Deputy Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration (A) Department has informed that the interview for filling up of vacancy of Driver, Grade IV posts in Meghalaya House, Kolkata scheduled to be held on 4th and 5th September 2006 stands deferred until further orders.

MASTER TRAINERS PROGRAMME ON NEW TEXT BOOK HELD

The inaugural function of the three days training programme of Master Trainers of KVS, NVS and CBSE affiliated independent schools programme on New Text Book based on the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Curriculum Framework 2005 in English and Social Science was held at the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE) office, Nongrim Hills, Shillong.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Dr. S Yadav, Reader in English said that the NCERT has take up the task of reviewing the National Curriculum Framework for school education and informed that it has brought out the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005. Dr. Yadav further stated that the main objectives of the programme was to help the teachers understand the spirit of NCF and have a constructive debate on the curricular issues, adding that the programme will help the teacher to be more oriented in transacting new textbooks in actual classroom situation and to make the teachers aware of the techniques of child centered.

Among others who spoke on the occasion were Prof. D S Bhattacharjee, Principal NERIE Prof. U Konwar, NERIE and Dr. B K Singh, Lecturer in Sociology.

The main objective of the training programme is to train and familiarizes the teachers from various parts of the North Eastern States with the new methods, tools, techniques etc in the subject of English and Social Science.
