BLOCK LEVEL SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL FAIR 2006

The Science Club in collaboration with the office of the District Planning Officer, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong is organizing the Block Level Science and Environmental Fair 2006 for the school going children from classes V-X.

MLA DISTRIBUTES COMPUTER

18 Rangbah Shnong of Mawlai Constituency received computer from their local MLA and Co-Chairman Meghalaya Commission on Resource Mobilisation, Mr. P. T. Sawkmie at the function held at his residence at Mawlai Nongpdeng on August 4, 2006.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sawkmie emphasized the need to familiarize themselves with the modern technology. With the placement of computer in each localities of his constituency, the area would ensure the transition from the manual working system to computerized system, which will be more effective and efficient in discharging their duties, he opined.

The function was presided over by Mr. B. R. Kharmujai, Rangbah Shnong Mawlai Mawdatbaki, and attended by the others Rangbah Shnong and Executive Members of different localities of Mawlai area.

URBAN AFFAIRS MINISTER INSPECT SITE FOR NONGPOH SUPER MARKET

Meghalaya Minister, Urban Affairs, Mr. P. Lyngdoh attended the meeting organized by the Nongpoh Town Committee held at Nongpoh Circuit House on August 4, 2006. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Mr. B. Dhar, Rangbah Shnong, Sordars, member of the RBYF, KSU and NAWWA and officials of the Urban Affairs Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lyngdoh expressed his happiness to associate himself with the elders and peoples of the areas and Nongpoh in particular to get the first hand information about the problems face by them and necessary step to be taken for their betterment.

Mr. Lyngdoh while referring to the Nongpoh Super Market Complex, informed the gathering that the construction of the same will be taken up soon and laying of foundation stone is expected to be held very soon. He called upon the people to extend their cooperation with the Government so as to smoothen the implementation of the said project in time.

While stressing on the need of better sanitation and hygienic drainage system in Nongpoh town, Mr. Lyngdoh informed that the Urban Affairs Department is actively preparing a plan in this regard.

Mr. Lyngdoh urged upon the people to be responsible and pro-development citizens so that all developmental works in the District are not hindered.

Later Mr. Lyngdoh inspected the site for construction of Nongpoh Super Market Complex.

Mr. P. Syngkli, Secretary Raid Nongpoh, Mr. M. Lyngdoh of RBYF, Mr. M. Lamare of NAWWA also spoke on the occasion. The meeting was presided over by Mr. O. P. Lyngdoh, Chairman Nongpoh Town Committee.

APL QUOTA OF RICE RELEASE

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed the public consumers of Greater Shillong and Rural areas, that APL quota of rice has been release and being distributed through their respective Fair Price Shop. The rice has been issue at the scale of one kg. per head per month at the rate of Rs. 8.80 p. per kg. in urban areas and price as fixed by the vigilance committee in rural areas in the respective Fair Price Shops.

Any non supply or overcharging of rate by the Fair Price Shop dealers may be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) along with details for necessary action.
