COLLECTION OF TOLL,TAXES ON PUBLIC ROADS PROHIBITED

The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has hereby informed for general information of public that the collection of toll/taxes by any agency/organization/individual from vehicle plying on public roads i.e. PWD roads/roads constructed with financial assistance from the Government through any Government Department without the permission from the State Government is illegal. The Deputy Commissioner further directed to stop such illegal collection on public roads. The local police have been instructed to arrest and prosecute such collector (s) if any.

NIC NONGPOH PARTICIPATE THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE VIDEO CONFERENCING IN NORTH EAST

Ri Bhoi District along with the rest of the North Eastern State participated in the launching ceremony of the video conferencing in the North East held at the NEC Auditorium, Shillong on August 7, 2006. Those present at the NIC Nongpoh were the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Informatics Officer, Officers and staff of DC Office.

DISTRIBUTION OF SK OIL

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed all public consumers of Shillong Sadar Sub-Division that S.K. Oil for the month of August, 2006 is being distributed through the S.K. Oil Retailers to all Family Identity Card holders in urban areas and households under rural areas. In urban areas, oil will be distributed at the scale of 09 litres per F.I. Card and in rural areas at 04 litres per household. The rate per litre is Rs. 9.75p excluding transport charge and handling charge to be determined by the local headman/vigilance committee both urban and rural areas.

Any non-supply of S.K. Oil by the Retailers may be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong along with the details.

CONTRACTORS TO REGISTER LABOURERS,CARPENTERS WITH POLICE

The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has informed that all contractors who are engaged in construction works in and around Shillong are requested to furnish full particulars of all labourers/carpenters engaged by them in the construction works in a prescribed format, detailing name of concerned employee, father’s name, age, identification mark (if any), qualification, name of village, police station, district, state, village headman, name of a responsible person of the village who will stand as surety for him in the time of causing enquiry by local police, along with a recent photograph to the nearest police unit (PS/BH/OP) immediately.

ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST VIOLATORS OF MV ACT

Plying of vehicles on roads without proper registration numbers and documents and in most cases with Applied For (A/F) signs pasted on the number plates are clear violations of Section 192 of the country’s Motor Vehicle’s Act (MV Act), 1988. Moreover, driving of any vehicle without appropriate insurance cover is also an infringement of Section 196 of the same Motor Vehicle’s Act. Therefore, keeping in mind the safety of motorists the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District has informed that violators of the above mentioned provisions will be liable for seizure of their vehicles under Section 207 of the MV Act which also includes legal prosecution and imposition of fines.

Riding of two wheelers without putting on safety helmets and carrying more than two riders including the driver will be liable for action by the police.
