Press Release No. 600/18 AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON SOCIAL NETWORKING AND CYBER CRIME A one day Awareness Programme on Social Networking and Cyber Crime was organised by the State Child Protection Society in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit, East Khasi Hills under the aegis of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya on September 11, 2018 at U Soso Tham Auditorium. The Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Smti. M. Kharkongor graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest in the presence of Shri. R. Muthu, IPS, Special Superintendent of Police (CID) and Shri. S Rynga, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department. A large number of students were also in attendance to take part in the one day programme. Speaking on the occasion, Smti. M. Kharkongor drew focus on the pros and cons of the internet and the use of social media. Exhorting the youth to be judicious while using the internet, Smti. M. Kharkongor said while we cannot curb access to the net, there is a need to increase awareness on the evils that lurk in the cyber world. She also stressed on the need to strengthen laws to protect child safety. Shri. R. Muthu and Shri. S Rynga, while sharing their thoughts on the occasion urged the students to be true to themselves while using social media platforms and also to be aware and not to be lured by online predators. As a part of the day long programme resources persons were drawn from the cyber crime wing of CID of Meghalaya Police. |
Press Release No. 602/18 CM REVIEWS IMPLEMENTATION OF SCHEMES IN DISTRICTS Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday reviewed the status of implementation of State and Central schemes by Agriculture, Horticulture and Health departments in all the 11 districts of the state through video conferencing from Ampati DRDA conference hall. This is part of the Chief Minister’s monthly review meeting on implementation of the flagship programmes of the government in the district by various departments in the state. In Ampati, the review meeting was held in the presence of Joint Secretary, CMO & Planning, Shri Cyril Diengdoh, Director, C&RD, Shri Arunkumar Kembhavi and South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Shri Ramkumar S and ADCs, besides the district officers of the three departments that were reviewed. During the meeting the Chief Minister sought to know the status, achievements, issues and challenges in the implementation of State Rice Mission, Seed Mission, RKVY, National Food Security Mission, PMKSY, RKVY, Mission Integrated Development of Horticulture, Mission Organic and PKVY under Agriculture and Horticulture departments and implementation of Ayushman Bharat, NHM, PMJAY and MHIS and preparation for Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign by the Health department in all the districts He also sought clarification on the status of land acquisition for construction of Tura Medical College. |
