Press Release No. 605/18 MEGHALAYA GOVERNOR GIVES AWAY THE USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR 2017 Meghalaya Governor, Shri. Tathagata Roy today gave away the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2017 in a function held at the U Soso Tham auditorium. The award ceremony held alongside the Festival of Music, Dance and Drama was organised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi in collaboration with the Directorate of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya. Altogether 32 awardees were felicitated in recognition of their prowess in the field of music, dance and drama. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Tathagata Roy congratulated all the awardees and said that art is a celebration of the universal spirit of India. With 60 percent of the population of the country falling under 35 years of age, the Governor said that India is a young nation and the youth are indeed the assets of the nation. He expressed hope that the recognition given to the awardees will inspire them to work harder and strive for excellence. While congratulating the Sangeet Natak Akademi for promoting the arts across the country, he urged the awardees to also take their talents further by way of sharing their skills and knowledge with the next generation, so that the rich traditions of India live on forever. The Governor also paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, who brought the limelight on the Shennai thought his magnetic performances. Chairman of Sangeet Natak Academy, Shri. Shekhar Sen, Director of Arts and Culture, Meghalaya Smti. M. War Nongbri, along with a host of invitees were also present at the award presentation ceremony. The award ceremony was followed by performances by some of the awardees, Sawani Shende - Hindustani Vocal Music, Prasanna Venkatraman- Carnatic Vocal Music with Trivandrum N. Sampath in the Violin, Rimpa Siva – Hindustani Instrumental Music (Tabla), Bhavana Reddy - Kuchipudi and Vidha Lala – Kathak. It may be mentioned that the 5 day festival which will feature acclaimed artists of the country, will continue till September 18, 2019. |
Press Release No. 606/18 HIGHER SECONDARY SECTION OF ST.JOSEPH'S HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, PYNTHORUMKHRAH INAUGURATED Meghalaya Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the new building and the Higher Secondary Section of St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong in the present of Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister for Education, Shri A. L. Hek, Minister for Health and Family Welfare who is also the local MLA, Shri James Ban Basaiawmoit, local MDC, Rev. Dr. Fr. Ioannis War Pakma, Parish Priest and Secretary Managing Committee of the School, Rev. Dr. Fr. A. L. Jose, SDB, Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Sr. Selinda Wanniang, Principal, St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School, teachers and students. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma said that the primary objective of education is to transform the lives of students and to make them more responsible and good citizen of the country and said “education is the passport for the future of our young generations.” The Chief Minister also reminded that to passed out from schools and colleges and get degrees is not enough adding that what is more important at the end of the day is the kind of human beings we are and said that humility, commitment, discipline are the qualities that academicians and educationists aspired to instill in the mind of the students. Press Release No. 609/18 ONLINE REPORTING PORTAL The Ministry of Home Affairs launched an Online Reporting Portal: www.cybercrime.gov.in on 30/06/2018 accepting complaints of Child Pornography and Rape/Gang Rape (CPRGR) contents being circulated through internet. The Cyber Assistance Cell of Cyber Crime Wing, CID is the State Nodal Cyber Cell for complaints of Child Pornography and Rape/Gang Rape (CP/RGR) contents, and general public can upload their complaints through this portal: www.cybercrime.gov.in.
