NOTIFICATION

Shillong, September 15, 2010: For the purpose of ensuring proper realization of Tax under Sub Section (3A) of Section 7 of the Central Sales Tax Act, 1956 (Act No. 74 of 1956), the Commissioner of Taxes, etc., Meghalaya, Shillong, has notified that any coal dealer in Meghalaya, to whom the Certificate of Registration has been granted under the Act and Rules, shall deposit such amount of security deposit as shall be demanded by the prescribed Registering Authority at the rate mentioned below for every truck load of coal being transported through the Taxation Check-post in Meghalaya in the course of inter-state trade or commerce.

For coal of every variety i.e., Lump or Hand picked variety ROM or mixed variety, security deposit is fixed at Rs. 1100/- per truck load of coal not exceeding 9 MT.

This notification shall come into force with immediate effect.

FISH FESTIVAL TO BE ORGANIZED

Shillong, September 15, 2010: The Department of Fisheries is organizing a one-day Fish Festival on September 17, 2010 at State Central Library, Shillong from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the programme there will be sale of Smoked Fish/fresh fish/fish pickle, display of exhibit etc.
