Press Release No. 994/17 AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON MEGHALAYA GST ACT AND NPR BIOMETRIC ENROLMENT The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, has informed all DDO’s, Accountant and all person concern dealing in tax deduction work in the District to attend the awareness programme on Meghalaya Goods & Services Tax Act to be held on September 21st, 2017 at Khliehriat West Community Hall at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, has also informed the general public that NPR Biometric Enrolment in the District have started since August 24th, 2017 in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat. People who come for enrolment are requested to take appointment form Room No. 001. Citizens are to bring along supporting documents viz., Residential Proof, Birth Certificate, Epic etc. Collection of Biometric will be done during office hours in all working days, concluded the message. |
Press Release No. 996/17 PASSING OUT CEREMONY AT CTI The 11-month field assistant training course for the field cadets in the rank of soil & water conservation demonstrator jr.1 and equivalent today came to an end in the passing out ceremony held in the Conservation Training Institute (CTI), Byrnihat in which Mr. R.V. Lyngdoh, minister soil & water conservation etc was the Chief Guest. Altogether 43 trainees including 20 from soil & water conservation department of Meghalaya, 10 from soil & water conservation department Assam, 2 from KHADC, 6 from GHADC and 5 from JHADC enrolled and completed the course. Subjects taken during the training were, soil science, soil & water conservation engineering, agronomy, botany, forest engineering, survey and leveling, forest mensuration, forest utilization, forest law, wild life, forest silviculture, account and procedures, games and sports and social works etc. Speaking on the occasion Mr. R.V. Lyngdoh congratulated the pass out trainees for completing the training which is the basic need before they start their service in their respective departments, for the benefit of the people especially the farming community. He also expressed his gratitude to the instructors, assistant instructors and the staff of the institute for their sincere support, dedication and cooperation that the course for the 44th batch field assistants could be completed satisfactorily and hoped that the knowledge imparted on the techniques of conservation of the natural resources, particularly the 3 basic life supporting system, i.e soil, water and vegetation would go a long way in helping the rural community to learn the modern method while dealing with the soil. He urged the field assistants to exercise their sincere efforts to make the farmers aware and raise the level of concern for the environment & to handle and control climate change which is a big challenge in the days to come. He said that the subject taken during the training were relevant with the challenge that the world now facing and fighting in order to make the planet earth a place fit for the existence of mankind for the years to come because of climate change. He called upon them to be humble while dealing with the farmers and their knowledge, attitude, innovation, and initiative should be shared with them in a sincere way while discharging of their duties, as the farming community are simple people, he added. He was very happy to learn that CTI besides the training imparted to the trainees also runs a Lower Primary school for the children at Byrnihat. Others speaking on the day were Smti. V. Papang, addl. Press Release No. 997/17 SEINRAJ INDOOR SPORTS HALL INAUGURATED Deputy Chief Minister Prof. R.C Laloo accompanied by the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Zenith Sangma in the presence of Director Sports and Youth Affairs M.War Nongbri, Deputy Commissioner West Jaintia Hills R. Rapthap, Superintendent of Police R.Muthu, Chief Engineer State Sports Council J.M Lakiang, A Shulllai Deputy CEM, JHADC, Dalloi Elaka Jowai Puramon Kynjin, President Seinraj O.R Challam, general Secretary Seinraj Arwotki Sumer and others inaugurated today the Seinraj Indoor Sports Hall at Madan Ryngkaw Tpep-Pale, Jowai. Speaking on the occasion Prof. R.C Laloo, said the Sports hall is constructed at the favourable place of the District and it will be a blessing to the Seinraj and to all the youths, young and old of the District where they meet and make use of the hall for further improvement and excelling in field of sports, which will also contribute towards personality development of the youth shunning them from todays vices. Prof. R.C Laloo wishes that the hall is used in the best way expressing desire to have more sports persons from the district. 'Sports halls are the need of the hour with the new technology advancing leaps and bounds bringing about blessing as well as its challenges, youths being so much attached into this new technology forgetting the need for physical activities, so this kind of infrastructures are required to motivate the youths to take part in sports and games, said the minister of Sports. Stressing on tapping the sports potential of youth, the minister informed that the Government has taken adequate steps for development and improvement of sports focusing on the youths to the maximum. The Government has also taken many initiatives to help the youths of the District like District Sport promotion Society to encourage youths to take part in sports and games. He invited the youths to have a strong positive mind to be able to move ahead in life. He wishes the Hall is utilized in the best way at the same time expressing desire to have more sports men from the district. Earlier O. R Challam, president Seinraj Jowai in his welcomed address and introductory speech expressed his sincere gratitude to Prof R.C Laloo for his the initiative taking in getting the fund for the construction of the hall, he also express his sincere thanks to State and youth affairs department under the leadership of the minister Zenith Sangma for funding with an objective to promote sports and games in particular for the youths of the District Chief Engineer, State Sports Council, Meghalaya JMS Lakiang informed the Hall covering an area of 900Sq meter was built according to the guidelines of Sports at the estimated cost of `2.01 core which took off in February 2015 and completed in August, 2017, funded by North Eastern Council and State Sports and Youth Affairs for the district sports lovers where they can further improve their talent. The hall has a Dressing Room, Hall, Stage and toilets and the indoor facilities includes Badminton, table Tennis, Contact Sports and Carrom Board |
