AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ICPS, JJ ACT, POCSO, CHILD RIGHTS ORGANIZED BY DCPU

The District Child Protection Unit, West Jaintia Hills had organized a series of awareness programs and street plays to sensitize the school children and the public masses about the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Juvenile Justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Child rights and child Abuse. The Office had also conducted street play on POCSO Act, Early Marriage and Adoption to create awareness and remind the masses that it is a responsibility of each and every individual to see that every child is safe and free from all violence and also to make every child aware of their rights guaranteed under different laws.

The programme was organized on 13th 14th and 15th September, 2022 at Kiang Nangbah Secondary School, Mukhla, Umlangshor, Tipsngi Upper Primary School, Nartiang and Thadmuthlong Pasyih Upper Primary School, Phramer respectively and street play at Wahiajer Iawpynsin, Nartiang Market Place and Thadmuthlong, Iaw Phramer.

The resource persons enlightened the students about the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Juvenile Justice Act. The students were briefed about the POCSO Act, informing that the Act aims to protect children from sexual offence. The students were briefed on the cause and impact of Child Sexual abuse, urging the students to be vigilant.
