Press Release No. 419/10 HANDS ON TRAINING ON MIS ON SLPES HELD Shillong, September 17, 2010: To facilitate a data based information which will be user friendly, informative and purposeful, a Hands-on-Training on Management Information Systems (MIS) on State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) was held on September 17, 2010 at the Conference Hall of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Shillong. The training was organized by the Commerce & Industries Department in collaboration with the Government of India, Department of Public Enterprises, New Delhi. The objective of MIS on SLPEs is to bring out the Annual Survey on SLPEs at the all-India level every year. In this respect, it will fulfill the long felt need of apex organizations like the Planning Commission and the Ministry of Finance (Government of India). To achieve this objective, in collaboration with NIC (attached to the department), the Department of Public Enterprises, Government of India is making all efforts to convert this data base into an MIS on SLPEs which will useful for further reference. The MIS for SLPEs is capable of providing sector-wise, investment-wise and employment-wise information on these enterprises besides giving information on Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss Accounts. . Year-on-year growth of turnover, profit/ loss and investment as well as various management ratios can be computed effortlessly for monitoring the performance of SLPEs and for policy decisions at the higher level. Dr. Sharat Kumar, Economic Adviser, Department of Public Enterprises, Government of India, in his address, said that to improve the working and the financial results of the SLPEs, much would depend on the information flow emanating from their income statements and balance sheet. Stating the need for a nodal agency, which in the case of Meghalaya is the Department of Commerce & Industries, to coordinate the work of SLPEs and to evaluate their performance on behalf of the State Government, Dr. Kumar said that the MIS for SLPEs developed by DPE can be utilized by the nodal departments (in-charge of SLPEs) to bring out such reports faster and more cost effectively. Further, the Management Information System for SLPEs will be of special help to those State Governments who have not yet developed such a system, he added. Later, a power point presentation on the usage and advantages of MIS on SLPEs was presented followed by an interaction. |
Press Release No. 420/10 NOTIFICATION Shillong, September 17, 2010: The Commissioner of Taxes, etc, Meghalaya, Shillong has informed that the Government Notification No. CTA-30/94/4130 dated 28.3.2002 on security deposit of coal stands cancelled. It may be mentioned that the Government has recently issued a notification regarding the security deposit of coal vide Notification No. CTAS-12/2010/1280 dated 14.9.2010. |
Press Release No. 421/10 FISH FESTIVAL HELD Shillong September 17, 2010: A One Day Fish Festival organized by the Department of Fisheries was held today at State Central Library premises, Shillong. Fish farmers from different part of the State participate in the Festival whereby different varieties of fishes were display and put up for sale. The objective of the Festival is to promote and encouraged Pisciculture in the State. The Meghalaya Minister for Fisheries, Mr. F.S. Cajee graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Cajee lauded the Fisheries Department for organizing this Festival and hope that this Festival will make people aware of the viability of pisciculture if taken up as business by the people. Stating that till now the State import most of the fish from outside the State, Mr. Cajee urged the people particularly the youth to take to pisciculture and assured that the State Government will extend all possible help in this respect. Later, Mr. Cajee gave away certificates to the best fish farmer both in the individual and community category from East Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi District. |
