Press Release No. 768/20 CELEBRATION OF POSHAN ABHIYAN, 2020 “We, as people who live in remote areas, think that it is difficult to attain a nutritional diet for children, pregnant women, lactating mothers as compared to people who live in urban areas. However, this programme plays a very important role as it helps us understand that anyone can get a healthy and balanced diet with proper guidance and training” said Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Batskhem Ryntathiang, MDC Mairang Constituency, while addressing the gathering of Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and farmers today at a function organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Khasi Hills at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Pyndengumiong, Mairang, West Khasi Hills District. The nutritional importance to vulnerable groups like infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers were explained by Smti L Warjri, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra West Khasi Hills and also emphasised the importance of consumption of nutritional diets with locally available materials to attain nutritional security. Preparation of events by KVK, West Khasi Hills in the month long celebration of Poshan Maah (Poshan Abhiyan 2020) include seed, planting material distribution, conducting of capacity building, awareness & training programs where the focus areas were Nutri models like nutri gardens at farmers' field, schools, terrace gardens, rooftop gardens, therefore the occasion today was also marked with the distribution of seeds and planting materials by the Chief Guest Shri B Ryntathiang, MDC Mairang Constituency and Shri A Nongbri, SDO (C) Mairang Civil Sub Division to the farmers, Anganwadi workers and ASHAs. This was followed by a Technical Session by Smt Y Sohtun, SMS (Horticulture) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Khasi Hills through talks on Models of Nutri-garden, Biofortified varieties in nutrition and package of practices of vegetable & horticultural crops while the talk on Nutri-thali for balanced diet was given by Smt W Marwein, Nutritionist, District Programme Officer, ICDS Cell, Nongstoin. |
Press Release No. 770/20 ADJUSTED ACADEMIC CALENDAR The Education department has rationalized the school curriculum for academic session 2020-21 and brought out the Adjusted Academic Calendar for lower primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary levels. Taking into account the reduced instructional days the Adjusted Academic Calendar focuses on core concepts and essential learning outcomes. The Adjusted Academic Calendar can be downloaded from the education department website (www.megeducation.gov.in) and also at the MBOSE website (www.mbose.in).
