MEGHALAYA IT AWARDS FOR MERITORIOUS STUDENTS

Shillong, September 24, 2010: Meghalaya Information Technology Award 2010 for the top ten students of HSSLC, SSLC, CBSE class- X, ICSE class- X and the three toppers in the ISC examination besides subject topers were felicitated by the State Information and Technology Department for their outstanding performance in the 2010 Board examinations at the function held on September 23, 2010 at U So So Tham Auditorium, Shillong.

The Awards were given with an objective of recognizing the excellence performance achieved by the students as well as to encourage, promote and assist the students in the field of information technology by awarding with laptop computers to all the meritorious students.

Two physically disabled students were also awarded with laptop computers which are installed with software specially designed by INTEL and the National Association of the Blind.

The award was handed over by the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul Sangma, Education Minister, Smti Ampareen Lyngdoh, Chief Secretary, Mr. W.M.S. Pariat and President ITEL, India Mr. Praveen Vishakantaiah.

The function was attended by the Principal Secretary IT Department Mr. P S Thangkhiew, Commissioner and Secretary IT Department, Mr. D P Wahlang and other senior government officials, students and parents.
