DISTRIBUTION OF RICE

The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that Rice under BPL, AAY and Annapurna has been released and will be distributed through respective Fair Price Shop with effect from September 13, 2006.

For BPL Card holders, rice will be distributed at a scale of 35 kgs. per card per month at a rate of Rs. 6.75/- per kg, for AAY card holders rice will be distributed at a scale of 35 kgs. per card per month at a rate of Rs. 3.00/- per kg and for Annapurna Card holders, rice will be distributed at a scale of 10 kgs. per month free of cost.

Any non supply and overcharging of rate and supply of inferior quality by the supplier should be brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (Supply), Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh will full details.

Rice under Mid-day meal for the month of August, 2006 will be released from 14th September, 2006 till September, 2006.

FRAUD PARA MEDICAL INSTITUTE CLOSED

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, in charge Resubelpara Civil Sub Division has informed that a Vocational Training Institute of Para Medical Technology , Mendipathar, East Garo Hills, affiliated to I.C.A.M has been found to be fraudulently offering 1(one) year Vocational Training Courses in Nursing and Laboratory Technology. Under the anomalous circumstances, he has therefore ordered the immediate closure of the institute with effect from 01st September, 2006.

CENTENARY OF VANDE MATARAM OBSERVED

Along with the rest of the country, the centenary of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ was also observed here today the 07th September, 2006. It may be mentioned that the government has also directed that all schools, colleges and other educational institutions to sing the first two stanzas of the National Song today.

A function was organized by Meghalaya Sports and Cultural Club(MSCC) to commemorate the National Song at Hotel Assembly, Khyndai Lad which was attended by the MLA from Mawprem, Mr.Manas Choudhry as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Choudhry gave an elaborate history on the origin of Vande Mataram where he also mentioned how the British and other leaders those days and even today have used and misused the National Song for their own benefit. He added that the British used various ways of divide and rule but through this song hundreds and thousands were inspired and had kept the country intact and the song had sparked the fire of nationalism among the people.

Mr.Zenith Sangma, MLA said that the National Song is a source of inspiration to all Indian and everyone should honour its value.

Others who spoke on the occasion were former MLA, Mr.D.N.Joshi noted city businessman and social activist, Mr.O.P.Agarwal. The programme was chaired by MSCC General Secretary, Mr.Rajoo Sharma.

The other highlights of the function was singing of Vande Mataram by students of Kalyan Ashram from Thynroit and the duo classical dance of Ms.Amrita of Pine Mount School and Ms.Phulore of St.Mary’s College.

The function concluded with everybody standing singing the National Song.

EPIC PHOTOGRAPHY

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has informed that Special Photography of Electors of 16-Malki-Nongthymmai (ST), 17-Laitumkrah (ST), 18-Pynthorumkhrah(GEN), 19-Jaiaw(ST), 20-Mawkhar(ST), 21-Mawprem(GEN),22-Laban(GEN) and 23-Mawlai (ST) Assembly Constituency will be held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong at Room No. 203 from 12th September 2006 onwards during office hours on all working days. Those electors whose names are in the Electoral Rolls of the aforementioned Assembly Constituencies but who could not get themselves photographed earlier may avail this opportunity. Those who have obtained the Elector’s Photo Identity Card(EPIC) earlier are to be photographed afresh.
