SIREN SYSTEM TO BE TESTED

Shillong, September 7, 2012: The Superintendent, District Jail Shillong, on recommendation of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District has informed the general public that the office has fixed 11th September, 2012 for testing the Siren System at 13:00 hours. This was informed in order to prevent the general public from unwanted panic.

ANNAPURNA RICE RELEASED

Shillong, September 7, 2012: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed that 10 kgs of food grain for the month of July, August & September 2012 under Annapurna Scheme has been released and will be distributed Free of Cost at the scale of 10 kgs per card per month through the Fair Price Shops.

For entire locality of Mawlai, rice will be distributed at M/s P. Kharbuli, Mawlai Mawdatbaki, for Mawprem, Jaiaw and Qualapatty, rice will be distributed at M/s E. Passah, Sunny Hill, for Laban, Lawsohtun and Lumparing, rice will be distributed at M/s B. L. Kedia, Laban, for Pohkseh, Rynjah and Umpling, rice will be distributed at M/s B. Kharsyntiew, Pohkseh, for Pynthor, Nongmynsong and Mawpat, rice will be distributed at M/s Gopal Store, Polo, and for Malki, Nongthymmai and Madanriting rice will be distributed at M/s Archana Rani Das, Laitumkhrah.

PROGRAMME FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION FOR DISABLED AT SECONDARY STAGE HELD

Shillong, September 7, 2012: The Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) organized a one day programme for implementation of Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS) scheme at Training Hall, DERT, Shillong on 7th September, 2012. The programme was attended by Meghalaya Urban Minister, Smti M. Ampareen Lyngdoh as the chief guest in the presence of Smti L. R. Sangma, Secretary Education Department, Shri C. C. M. Mihsil, Director, DERT, heads of different educational institutions and students of Jyoti Sroat School.

Speaking on the occasion, Smti Lyngdoh said this Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Integrated Education for the Disabled Children was introduced with a view to provide educational opportunities for children with disabilities in general schools. The scheme will enable all children and young persons with disabilities to have access to secondary education and improve their enrolment, retention and achievement in the general education system. Under the scheme every school is to be made disabled friendly, added Smti Lyngdoh.

The minister informed that the scheme provides facilities to students with disabilities including expenses on books and stationery, uniforms, transport, reading and escort allowance, hostel accommodation and actual cost of equipment and the scheme also supports the appointment of special teachers, provision for resource rooms and removal of architectural barriers in schools.

Smti. L. R. Sangma, Secretary Education department, in her speech said that the National Action Plan for Inclusion of Children and Youth with Disabilities developed by Ministry of HRD emphasizes the inclusion of children and young persons with disability in all general educational setting form early childhood to higher education. The first installment of implementation of the Scheme in the state will cover 238 disabled students informed Smti Sangma.
