AWARDS FOR ANGANWADI WORKERS AND HELPERS DISTRIBUTED

Shillong, September 16, 2010: The Department of Social Welfare distributed State and District Level Awards to Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers of East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi District in recognition of their outstanding service. The award which carried a citation and cash was distributed by the Director of Social Welfare, Meghalaya, Mr. C C M Mihsil, Additional Director Social Welfare, Mrs. L N Jyrwa and Assistant Director of Social Welfare (ICDS), Mrs. E Basaiawmoit at the office of the District Programme Officer ICDS (Cell), Shillong on September 15, 2010.

The State Level Awardees for the year 2009-10 were Mrs. Trylin Kharkongor of Thangshalai AWC, Mawryngkneng ICDS Project and Mrs. Ritalis Lapang, Umsaw Nongkharai AWC, Umsning ICDS Project.

Awardees for the District Incentive Award for Anganwadi Workers 2990-10 included Mrs. Icylda War, Umlyngka Lumpongdeng AWC, Mylliem ICDS Project, Mrs. Polo Khongmalai, Pynter II AWC, Pynursla ICDS Project, Mrs. Belbara Syiemlieh, Kutmadan AWC, Shella Bholaganj ICDS Project, Mrs. Emsalon Blah, Mawngap Rim ‘B’ AWC, Mawphlang ICDS Project and Mrs. Rimoi Klein, Belkuri AWC, Umling ICDS Project.

Awardees for the District Incentive Award for Anganwadi Helpers 2009-10 were Mrs. Pholtina Nongkhlaw, Mylliem Nongbet AWC, Mylliem ICDS Project, Mrs. Swirda Rani, Mawsadang AWC, Mawsynram ICDS Project, Mrs. Lio Nongrum, Swer II AWC, Khatarshnong Laitkroh ICDS Project and Mrs. Rusila Kharshanlor, Saiden II AWC, Umling ICDS Project.

WORKSHOP ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY HELD AT PINEWOOD HOTEL

Shillong, 16 September 2010: A two-day National Workshop on Energy Efficiency Codes and Ratings in Buildings was inaugurated today at Pinewood Hotel, Shillong. Mr. A.T Mondal, Minister of Power, Government of Meghalaya graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries include Mr. B.K. Dev Varma, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya i/c Power, Mr G. Krishnakumar, Chief Operating Officer, Society of Energy Engineers & Managers (SEEM), Mr. B. D. Nengnong, Senior Electrical Inspector Power, Meghalaya, Senior Officials of various departments and others.

The workshop organized by the Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) with the support of the Inspectorate of Electricity and State Designated Agency on Energy Conservation, Govt. of Meghalaya, was sponsored by the Power Department, Govt. of Meghalaya.

Speaking in the occasion, Mr. A. T. Mondal, highlighted the significant importance of power shortage and its increasing demand. He further stated as far as Meghalaya is concern, it requires 600 mega watt of power supply keeping the future demands in mind. The government seeks to meet the target by 2013-14. However, he stated the demand is also increasing simultaneously. Therefore the only option is to conserve energy which is the theme of this workshop. He stated that the Government of India on realizing the vast potential of energy saving and the conservation of energy has formulated and enacted the Energy Conservation Act 2001 and further stated that with the advancement of technology such a workshop is mandatory to help educate not only the professionals but the general masses on this topic.

The workshop was organized with an aim to stimulate and promote Energy efficiency, Conservation, Renewable energy usage and Productivity consciousness through a team of energy professionals. The workshop also seeks to educate energy professionals on Energy Conservation & Technologies, Advisory Support Services, Technical Training & Capacity Building Initiatives, Exhibitions/Public Awareness Campaigns and Publications.
