WRITTEN TEST FOR THE POST OF LADY SUPERVISOR AND ASSISTANT TEACHER

Shillong September 8, 2010: The Member Secretary, District Selection Committee, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has informed that the dates of Written Test for the post of Lady Supervisor and Assistant Teacher will be held on 18th September, 2010 and 25th September, 2010 respectively.

All applicants may collect the Admit Card from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh during office hours.

WORLD LITERACY DAY OBSERVED

Shillong September 8, 2010: An elaborate programme celebrating World Literacy Day was organized by the District Mission of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) West Garo Hills District at the Tura District Auditorium today.

Mr. A. G. Momin, retired Additonal Director of Public Instruction graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while Mrs. C. W.Momin, Additional Director of School Education and Literacy, East, West and South Garo Hills chaired the function.

In his address, Mr. Sanjay Goyal, Chairman, SSA and also Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills said that education and literacy play an important role in our lives. He informed that the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was an effort to universalize elementary education by community ownership of the school system and that it was a response to the demand for quality basic education all over the country. The SSA programme is also an attempt to provide an opportunity for improving human capabilities to all children, through the provision of community owned quality education in a mission mode, he added.

Mr. Goyal also discussed at length about the Saakshar Bharat Mission which aims to further promote and strengthen Adult Education, especially of women, by extending educational options to those adults who having lost the opportunity to access to formal education and crossed the standard age for receiving such education, now feel a need for learning of any type including, literacy, basic education, vocational education, physical and emotional development, practical arts, applied science, sports and recreation.

Other who spoke on the occasion were Mr. A. G. Momin, Mrs. C.W.Momin and Mrs. H. R.Marak, District Mission Coordinator, SSA and DI of Schools, Tura highlighted on the SSA stating that it was a flagship programme which had made possible the return of school dropouts and out of school children into the mainstream of education. She also urged the younger generation to complete their education so that they will become self sufficient in the future.

A similar programme on World Literacy Day was also observed at Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh with a slogan “Education for all, Education of all” organized by District Mission Coordinator in collaboration with the D.I. of Schools, Ri Bhoi District was held today at Parish Hall, Nongpoh.

The programme was attended by Mr. D. Khymdeit, Chairman MCCL., Smti I. Mawlong, ADC, officers from the education department, teachers and student from 16 various schools of the District.
